Cupcakes and Cashmere

Potato Pockets with Caviar

December 29th, 2011

There are certain things about New Year’s Eve that I truly love – getting dressed up, drinking champagne, toasting to the end of a year…but there are also things I could do without –  like the hassle of picking the right event/party/restaurant (and then finding a cab home), the exorbitant prices, and the hype that goes along with it all. Instead, we like to incorporate all of our favorite aspects of the holiday without leaving home. For those of you that feel similarly, I’m making appetizers that look (they remind me of little geodes) and feel festive – perfect for a relaxed, but elevated evening at home.

Couldn’t agree more…I am so over the crowds and overpriced parties and people spilling drinks on my brand new shoes! Am having a few friends over for NYE as well, although I doubt I’ll muster up enough energy to make appetizers as fancy as yours! They look delish!

A little unrelated to your post but- I just opened my email inbox to find a recommendation from Amazon for “Cupcakes and Cashmere: A Design Guide for Defining Your Style….” Totally random and amazing! Hilarious as I’ve never bought cookbooks or anything of the like (always music and resources for work) from Amazon. It’s just as if they knew all along…
    Congratulations!!

Very chic. I remember trying caviar when I was 9 years old. A very, very interesting food for sure. I would love to try purple potatoes though. I head they have lots of antioxidants! Cabs in NYC on New Year’s Eve… a nightmare!

Love these – you can’t go wrong serving caviar on NYE.. well, unless you forget to serve the Champagne along with it! And for our friends out there wondering what to wear to such a festive NYE soiree, they can check out http://www.yourstylesavior.com for shiny, sequin options (minus the been-there-done-that sequindress).

Beautiful. I would love to eat a geode topped with caviar.

I always go to Ranch 99 market to get those purple potatoes. This looks delicious, but I am not going to even pretend that I like caviar. If I attempted this, I would definitely top it with something else, but you did an amazing job and this would be perfect for any party or get together.

i’ve never once tried caviar, but it’s for sure on my list of foods to try! great idea staying in!
