Parmesan Black Pepper Crackers

thyme1.jpg

Don’t get me wrong – I can put away Wheat Thins and Cheez-Its like it’s nobody’s business, but when it comes to fresh, just-out-of-the oven crackers, I’m a goner.  My mom made these last year and actually had to double the recipe since I polished off an entire batch before our dinner guests arrived.  I made them for a party this weekend and they were just as flaky and perfect as before…except for the fact that most of them remained glued to the baking sheet long after I took them out of the oven.

Note to self: add a couple tablespoons of water to the dough and grease the sheet so you don’t have to shove crumbly pieces of cracker into your mouth.

this is like the peak of domesticity that you’ve just reached. making your own crackers??? i love it, but honestly had no idea it could even be done….then i realized…of course it can, because how else would wheat-thins make their crackers? i guess i just never thought of such things. genius.

YUM! Homemade crackers are divine. I made them for the first time last year and I ended up having to do about 4 extra batches b/c they went so fast. Mine were a Martha Stewart recipe with Parmesan and flax seed, but I think this year I might try this recipe. Thanks!

YUMMY!! THOSE SOUND DELICIOUS!! I’m definitely going to try those out.

I love Stone Wheat Thins too. I actually have to avoid the cracker isle at the grocery store a lot because I buy a box and they’re gone by the time I get home… :-0

when Ina Garten made her crackers I was a bit weary, like “why not just buy some Carr’s?” But hearing someone’s first hand account of homemade crackers is just enough to change my mind. New holiday gifts!

49 Caitlin { 05.25.10 at 2:59 pm }

Wow I need to try making these ASAP! They look absolutely delicious. Also, if you’re having a problem with the crackers sticking to the baking sheet, try baking them on parchment paper. That’s what I always use and it works great.
