{A beautiful, intricate lace cuff that my mom made me for Christmas}
One of the best decisions we made over the holidays was returning back to L.A. a few days early. It’s always rough leaving my parents’ house, but it allowed us time to relax and declutter without having to worry about anything else. We reorganized the entryway, living room, and dining room (pictures to come next week) and filled them all with fresh flowers. It’ll take me some time to mourn the warm glow of our Christmas tree, but I think we’re on the right track.

We went to a wedding on New Year’s Eve and I wore a simple long-sleeved dress that I’ve had for a while (seen here). But since it was black, and approximately 98% of the attending women wore the same color, I wanted something to punch it up a bit. I bought this leopard faux fur coat for the occasion and it worked out perfectly. It was warm enough for a chilly evening and the leather paneling and swingy shape make it playful enough to wear during the day.

2012 was a great year. It sounds almost juvenile to say, but it was my favorite one yet. There were personal milestones (our wedding) and professionally (my book becoming a national best seller) with a lot of special little moments that I’ve loved sharing with you along the way. I’m so grateful for all of your support and I’m excited about even bigger things to come in 2013. Happy New Year. xx

{Calgel manicure + new teacup from Heath Ceramics}
I arrived in Toronto last night and absolutely love it here, despite the wintery temps. I’m in town for a book signing at Holt Renfrew tomorrow, so if you’re in the area, please stop by! I’m looking forward to exploring the city and returning home just in time to spend the remainder of the weekend with friends. In the meantime, here are a few of the things making me happy right now.

{A bay leaf wreath that makes our entryway smell woodsy and fresh}

{Glitzy earrings I purchased for a New Year’s Eve wedding}

{A marble pastry board for baking + photography}

{Seasonal sweets for this Sunday’s annual gingerbread house party}
