BHLDN

February 10th, 2011

{Cutest invite ever. Inside the box was a tiny note with a magnifying glass}

Yesterday I had the pleasure of viewing Anthropologie’s new bridal line, BHLDN (which officially launches on Valentine’s Day). It was such a romantic afternoon; filled with champagne and sweet treats, with lots of dresses, shoes and accessories. BHLDN (pronounced “beholden”) fills an untapped niche with great party pieces at reasonable prices. It stays true to the Anthropologie aesthetic, with vintage appeal and beautiful detailing, but feels even more special. I know firsthand, since I tried on my first wedding dress, and it was as surreal and thrilling as I had always imagined (and yes, I did well up just a little bit).

{Some of my favorite wedding gowns}

{Cupcakes topped with flags and a “Just Married” serving spoon}

{Playing dress-up with Joy and Joanna}

{Macarons and “Bride” and “Groom” engraved forks}

{I loved the sheer fabric and ruching on this red party dress}

Seeing Stars

December 13th, 2010

UO Top, Vintage Lanvin Sunglasses (seen HERE), UO Skirt, Coach Bag, Alberta Feretti Sandals

After I overdid the whole long skirt phase in college, I thought I’d be over it for good.  Definitely not the case.  This was my first purchase over the summer and since then I’ve been gradually adding longer pieces to my closet.  This skirt stood out since it has the appeal of the ankle-grazing length, but it’s lightened up by sheer lace.   Normally it would would be a bit cold for December, but it was the perfect piece for this weekend’s rather abrupt heat wave.

Old Look, New Feel

July 14th, 2010

Coming home from a flea market with a cute, vintage dress that is without strange smells, little tears or discolorations is a major score.  The thrills of thrifting can be extremely rewarding, but sometimes you don’t want to have to sift through piles of rags for that one gem.  Lately I’ve been noticing a lot more vintage-inspired dresses popping up in major retailers and I’ve picked a few of my favorites that would be perfect for a date night, a Gatsby-esque gala or brunch with girlfriends.
