A few months back at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, I found a pair of vintage wingback chairs for our office. Despite their age, they were remarkably comfortable, a classic shape, and I brought them both home for $75. But there was work to be done…a couple of the buttons were missing, they were an unfortunate green houndstooth, and there were some questionable stains (pretttty sure it was blood, but I told myself it was just red wine). I’ve done some reupholstering in the past, but mainly with straightforward pieces (like these chairs), so I took these to a professional. I picked out a heather gray microsuede fabric and asked for the legs to be stained a dark mahogany. They now flank two corners in our office and it adds such a cozy, inviting touch to the room.

When I think of white shoes, they don’t necessarily conjure up stylish images in my head: I’m reminded of the blindingly bright Converse kicks I had as a kid, the shoes my dad matched to his wedding tux (true story), and the bad platform flip flops I wore in college. But the new strappy sandals available feel chic and understated. These Alexander Wang snake-embossed sandals are a great combination of delicate meets edgy, but Zara’s option (at a fraction of the cost) would look just as stunning, when paired with a chiffon dress and a hint of a tan.

Karen Walker Sunglasses, Rebecca Taylor Dress, Balenciaga Clutch, Zara Heels
About a year ago, I was grabbing lunch on 3rd St. when I saw a woman in a pretty dress across the street. It was a simple, classic silhouette but with extra fabric that cinched around her waist. Disregarding traffic, I bolted across the street and asked for the details (it was Rebecca Taylor). As soon as I got home, I looked it up online, only to find it was sold out everywhere. I halted my search, but never stopped thinking about it. This past week I found it (here), in a slightly different pattern, but I think the watercolor print works even better. It was an investment, but I was ecstatic to find such a versatile dress that can be worn with plain sandals during the day or heels and a nude lip for evening.

A few months back, I shared a sneak peek of our wedding video that Brian sent over. I thought it was perfect – it captured the day so beautifully and left me wanting more. Well, more came in the form of our final video we received this past week. Since it’s Mother’s Day (and I’ve managed to not share it with my mom up until right now), it would be fun to post. We agonized about picking the song for months, but as soon as we decided on Paul Simon’s “Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes,” we knew we’d found it. I’d be floored if I’m ever able to watch it without tearing up. Happy Mother’s Day! x
