Ray-Ban Aviators, J.Crew Top, Hermes Belt, J.Crew Pants, Louboutin Heels, Juicy Couture Clutch
Most of the time when I have to get dressed for a meeting, I throw on a dress, add a pair of heels and run out the door. But this past week I switched it up a bit. Since jeans were too casual and long trousers felt stuffy, I went with cropped pants that I previously had relegated to my winter wardrobe. Darker plaid usually feels heavy, but when paired with a lightweight peplum top, a tan belt, and bright heels, it felt entirely spring appropriate.

I’ve obviously been on a salad kick lately, as evidenced by this post from a few weeks back and I’ve been experimenting with variations using different vegetables. One of my favorite dishes at Bäco Mercat is their Ceasar Brussels Sprouts, so I decided to create my own variation, which included charring the brussels and mixing in some crispy bacon, sautéed bread crumbs, and an anchovy-shallot vinaigrette. You can serve this warm or cold, but I’m all about room-temperature dishes for springtime entertaining.

A few months back at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, I found a pair of vintage wingback chairs for our office. Despite their age, they were remarkably comfortable, a classic shape, and I brought them both home for $75. But there was work to be done…a couple of the buttons were missing, they were an unfortunate green houndstooth, and there were some questionable stains (pretttty sure it was blood, but I told myself it was just red wine). I’ve done some reupholstering in the past, but mainly with straightforward pieces (like these chairs), so I took these to a professional. I picked out a heather gray microsuede fabric and asked for the legs to be stained a dark mahogany. They now flank two corners in our office and it adds such a cozy, inviting touch to the room.
