The week leading up to Christmas is always inevitably crazy, despite how many times I insist that it’s going to be spent watching holiday films and baking cookies. If you still haven’t finished up all of your shopping, I put together one last gift guide (you can see my first two here and here) that has something for everyone at a variety of price points. I’m particularly drawn to this nail polish that looks like the sidewalk after it’s rained and these sweet ballet flats (I bought a pair last week) that are as comfortable as they are classic.

Topshop Top, UO Skirt, Luv AJ Handpiece, Christian Louboutin Heels
I spent the majority of the weekend in sweats, since the rain was so relentless that I barely left the house. Instead of going out for our normal Saturday night date, we ordered in and I figured a change of clothes would do me good. I threw on this new skirt that’s part-sparkly-tutu-meets-spunky-librarian and even though we never stepped outside, it was a good change of pace. Every once in a while I like when the weather forces me to stay indoors, burn candles in lieu of lights, read stacks of magazines and eat soup at every meal.

{Three new miniature vases with sterling roses}
This has been one exciting week. It started out almost eerily quiet and unfolded beautifully. On Monday night my boyfriend proposed to me. It was sweet and romantic; with just me and him in our place. I could barely wait to share the news on my blog, but wanted a few days to savor the surprise on my own (rest assured I will not turn this site into a wedding blog). After all of the festivities this week, I can’t wait to spend a cold rainy weekend at home.

UO Sweater, Thrifted Necklace and Bracelets, Queen’s Wardrobe Shorts, Miu Miu Pumps, Reiss Clutch
I’ve been looking for a leopard clutch for a while and couldn’t find one that met all of my specific needs: I wanted it to be simple, with a classic shape, in a size that wasn’t too small with a detachable wristlet. I finally found one at Reiss last week and it’s since replaced my normal bag that’s about three times as big. I wore it with my favorite shorts (seen here) and a preppy sweater for a morning spent lounging at a french bistro that made it feel like we were far from California.
