A good statement necklace, with intricate beading, bright colors, and an interesting shape, has become my quintessential go-to accessory. My preference will always be vintage gems that I pick up at flea markets, but when it comes to current jewelry designers, Tom Binns’ creations are works of art. This hand-painted necklace is beautiful and would be sure to dress up even the most basic tops, but it’s a serious investment. This option, from Asos, is a great alternative – it still makes an impact, but without the hefty price tag.

Ray-Ban Aviators, J.Crew Necklace, Forever 21 Sweatshirt, Topshop Skirt, Jenni Kayne Flats, Clare Vivier Clutch, OPI A Roll in the Hague Nail Polish
Recently a friend asked me if I had a favorite piece of clothing. And based on her reaction, I assume she was surprised to hear that I said, “my Forever 21 sweatshirt.” Besides the fact that it’s slouchy and comfortable, it’s nearly tissue-thin at this point and goes just as well with pajama pants as it does with a leather skirt. Sometimes it’s not about an item’s material worth, but simply an irrational attachment.

This week was challenging, in a therapeutic way. I’m an anxious person by nature, so I stress about…nearly everything. To try and alleviate some of my nervous energy, I made two changes that actually ended up making a big difference. The first involved my inbox. I receive a lot of emails each day and try my best to get to a majority of them within 24 hours. But then there are those that go unanswered, for one reason or another, for a long time…like weeks. So my new rule is to clear my inbox at the end of each day. It’s made my mornings feel far less hectic since there aren’t always unfinished things rolling over. I’ve also started writing lists again before bed – I include anything and everything that’s on my mind. The lists are often pages long, filled with a few important things and a whole lot of trivial nonsense. But the goal is to simply get it on paper so that my sleep is more restful. So here’s to welcoming the weekend with a renewed sense of ease and gratitude.
