Orange-Flavored Almond Biscotti

I can say with complete honesty that I have never been a fan of biscotti. It always seems like something you eat when there’s nothing else available and you’re simply settling for a stale cookie. I had never even thought about how they were made until I considered making some from scratch after seeing this recipe. Turns out, they’re twice-baked (which makes them seem extra special) and when they’re homemade, there’s quite a difference. They’re crunchy, but full of flavor and the hint of orange makes them the perfect complement to cup of tea in the afternoon.

I just love your foodie posts.
I agree – homemade biscotti are entirely different and unbelievably delicious. I’m inspired by your post and will be making orange and chocolate ones this weekend!x
Homemade biscotti is the best! Will have to try this recipe out soon. http://www.somedaysmarter.blogspot.com
Yum! I totally wanted to bake today! You have inspired me…….
Homemade biscotti, yum yum! I love how you always cook simple and yet beautiful looking food
Your bf must be a lucky chap!
love love love love!
Best way to eat biscotti is to stick it into big scoops of creamy vanilla gelato and drown it in a shot of espresso coffee. Trust me.
You have created such a lovely online space to spend time in; thank you for sharing!
If you’d like, please stop by my blog for a chance to win an original giclee art print…by me

I love them dunked in coffee when they are just slightly softened.

Hi Emily! I’m from Italy and these delicius are my every day breakfast
We have a kind of them and we call it “Cantuccini” and we eat it with a glass of “Vino Santo”= a special wine with cinnamon!

I have never tried homemade biscotti! I will have to make this soon!
Looks yummy:)
These do look rather nice – though I’m of the same opinion as you about them tasting a bit like stale biscuits.
It’s fair to say, though, that the biscotti we get in coffee shops here in Scotland isn’t even comparable to the biscotti in Italy….

I think I might try and learn how to cook/bake this summer! You make it look so easy lol.

hmmm yum. i love dipping biscotti into my cup of tea or coffee. I am drinking tea now, if only i had a biscotti!
mmm… I’m hungry!!

Great cooking idea – I have never tried making biscotti before! I always sucker up and pay for it.

You really are not afraid to try anything new in the kitchen. I love that! Paul is a big fan of biscotti with his espresso. I’ve never been a fan, myself. It’s always seemed like wasted calories to me when there’s a perfectly good slice of cake sitting alongside it! These look delicious though, especially since one of my diet staples these days is tea, tea, tea.
Lovely Biscotti, gorgeous pictures and I’m digging the nail polish!
Lovely B.

Homemade biscotti is a whole different animal. Furthermore, I believe that anything that isn’t soft and gooey must be a health food.
These look great! Definitely want to attempt to make these!

this looks scrumptious! i love your experimental spirit when it comes to trying new recipes!
I’ve always felt the same way about biscotti, but this might make me change my mind. I love trying out recipes for new desserts. I’d love to be having one of these with my coffee right now.
i love biscotti! im going to try out this receipe, thanks for posting!

i totally feel the same, i never reach for biscotti, but my mom loves it! i’ve been trying to figure out a good vegan recipe and thought i’d make some for her. the closest thing i’ve made it madel bread (a passover treat) with dried cherries and dark chocolate. it’s so yummy and double baked in the same way. a little trick: when you slice it and flip it to be rebaked, sprinkle it with a little cinnamon and sugar:)

I actually have never even tried it although I bring it over sometimes when I go see friends. The hardness of it makes me think I am going to chip my tooth!!

Your homemade biscotti makes me feel bad about the donut from Starbucks I ate this morning…
Fantastic pics, as usual.

Yum! I will definitely have to make this and substitute the butter for vegan butter since I’m allergic to dairy:)
I love that post! I am going to make this too:)
Btw: Great pictures!
Kisses:)

I didn’t know they were twice baked until I made them last summer. Our Italian neighbor used to bring over batches of them when I was a little girl. They’re definitely a dunking cooking for me
I’ve always felt the same way about biscotti. But you’re probably right – they must taste a world of difference when they’re homemade vs. the pre-packaged Starbucks stuff. That’s how I feel about Madelines too.

I’ve been wanting to make some biscotti for awhile – thanks for sharing the recipe I may have to try it out
I am a big tea drinker and I love a good biscotti to go along with my tea. I especially love white or dark chocolate biscotti’s. But these look like they would be a great complement tea in the summer months, very refreshing!
i am not such a tea drinker sometimes in the winter but this would be great with a big cold glass of milk! yumm! how refreshing!

Despite being half-Italian, I’m not a huge biscotti eater either, although I’m always up for trying something new! Cheers!
YUM! Just had the best homemade chocolate chip with raisin biscotti! I love a new tasty recipe to try!

homemade biscotti is the best! my italian grandma makes such yummy biscotti, it literally melts in your mouth.
I am also not a big biscotti fan, but this honestly sounds amazing! I feel like trying it homemade will make all the difference.

I’ll admit, I’ve never even enjoyed it because I felt exactly the same way about biscotti. While I don’t plan on baking my own, maybe I will try one some time now.
I’ve never actually had biscotti before! But your pictures make them look delicious!
omg those look absolutely delish! I love your food posts
I’ve never been a fan of biscotti, but AM a huge fan of its distant Jewish cousin, Mandel bread. I make the most delicious chocolate chip kind and the recipe was passed down from my best friend’s grandma. I could go for it now…
hey, I’m a 15 year old brazilian girl and I simply love your website. the cookies look delicious, I’m gonna try making them one of these days… I noticed that you love cooking, and that’s why i’d like to share with you a famous brazilian recipe. this link http://www.maria-brazil.org/brigadeiros.htm teaches you how to make brigadeiro. i hope you enjoy them, because i simply love brigadeiro! xoxo
I need those to go with my latte tomorrow. Baking time!!
These look amazing! My grandmother makes this exact kind, only she puts cranberries in hers…..and sometimes dips them in chocolate!
Yum!

Biscotti and tea – yum. Anything that makes tea even better gets my vote.

we sell chocolate dipped biscotti at the bakery i work at … it completely changed my aversion to biscotti! mmm!
haha i thought the same thing of biscotti–stale cookies. But I hear they are wonderful baked fresh and even dipped in coffee. (And yours look great!)

I’m not really a biscotti person either but yummm those pictures make them look good!
it is a good thing my boyfriend is currently preparing some guacamol or with these photos I would be heading to the fridge and what is inside…

Looks ‘yummy’! Like to try some! ^^
I shared your sentiment over biscotti seeming like a stale cookie until I started making them myself. They’re much more palatable homemade…
These look great-I love anything with orange.

These look great! I love anything with an almond flavor.
These look very healthy, too. But unfortunately, not eco-friendly, since it’s twice-baked. Shouldn’t we just settle with something just as delicious but less energy-consuming?
Ah! Now I’m hungry
I live near Prato, Italy, the town where biscotti were invented. You should definitely try the Antonio Mattei brand, they’re the best, and the original ones! love them! in my shop in Florence, we sell about 20 kg a day, so I guess lots of people love them!
ive never been a fan of any biscotti other then my grand mothers… she always makes chocolate with hazelnuts and drizzles some melted chocolate on them… the best..
De dуnde eres? їEs un secreto?
Gracias
