Cupcakes and Cashmere

Old Look, New Feel

July 14th, 2010

Coming home from a flea market with a cute, vintage dress that is without strange smells, little tears or discolorations is a major score.  The thrills of thrifting can be extremely rewarding, but sometimes you don’t want to have to sift through piles of rags for that one gem.  Lately I’ve been noticing a lot more vintage-inspired dresses popping up in major retailers and I’ve picked a few of my favorites that would be perfect for a date night, a Gatsby-esque gala or brunch with girlfriends.

1. Topshop Doily Heart Cut-Out Shirt Dress, $90
2. Juicy Couture Embroidered Cotton Dress, $180
3. Forever 21 Sheer Lace Ensemble, $27.80
4. Beyond Vintage Lace-Detailing Empire Dress, $250
5. ACNE Liberte Crepe Lace Pleated Dress, $380
6. Contrarian Bibb Dress, $495
7. Built by Wendy Arles Market Dress, $144
8. Alice + Olivia Tessa Asymmetric Silk-Blend Dress, $400

All cute dresses but I’m surprised you didn’t reference Anthropologie or ModCloth — they are known for vintage-inspired apparel. Check it out — it’s great.

I’m DYING over numbers 2 and 8! They’re so chic and fabulous. I love vintage shopping and flea markets but sometimes don’t quite have the patience to search through all of the items. Your vintage-inspired picks are simply stunning.
