Office Maintenance

August 4th, 2011

One of my favorite pastimes is rearranging furniture (apparently many of you feel the same, according to Twitter). It requires little effort, but yields such rewarding results (and makes me feel almost Herculean; moving around sofas, large tables, and chairs). My office transformation has been well documented (here, here, and here), but I thought I’d show some photographs that show how seemingly simple changes (like new art, fresh flowers, and different colors) are what keep a space feeling fresh and current.

{Light colored basics are a welcomed change from these pieces}

{All blush tones and open toed sandals}

{My overhead lamp lends a masculine touch to my otherwise girly space}

{I love the gold detailing on this new vintage console + a new place for my far-too-uncomfortable-to-sit-on-all-day lucite desk chair}

{White gum balls keep the office from feeling too serious}

{Vintage art found in Santa Barbara leans against the wall}

    Wow.. That’s an amazing decoration. Pink is my favorite color, and pastel color too. I like that glass chair, and I envy your shoes collection.

    I think it’s more like a bedroom than an office. You are beautifully managed your furniture, wall color, clothes, shoes, and all that stuff. You must be feel very comfort when working there. I’m sure that girly decoration will give you more inspiration, good mood, and great feeling. Have a nice day, Em..

    I love your space and how your personal sense of style comes through in your interior decorating, but I have one tiny suggestion. I think the ghost chair kind of clutters up that wall by offering no bare wall space or separation between the rack and gold sideboard table. If you placed it on the opposite side of your desk at a 45 degree angle it is a great place for someone to sit while you are at your desk, or engage in the seating area where the couch is. Plus, you could prop your feet up on it while you sit at your desk chair ;)

    These photo’s ae really an inspiration. I’m looking forward to redecorate my own walk in closet when I look at your work space.

    I bet if you designed this office without trying SO hard to make it look like ALL the “fabulous” and “picturesque” offices you see on TV/Magazines/Design Sites Etc, it would look a lot more personalized and a lot less cliche! Especially since clearly your a person with taste.

    I love how you put in those white gumballs to, like you said, keep the office from feeling too serious. It is a nice break from the usual office decor that we are so accustomed to, and it adds a fun factor to the work environment. Pretty nifty, I must say. :)

    It would be perfect for my bedroom, since it’s clear and nothing else seems to work.
