October Sky
My boyfriend kindly allowed me to decorate our entryway for Halloween, as long as I agreed not to let things get too tacky. Trust me, it’s way more challenging than you’d think. I skipped the witch figurines, goofy pumpkins and hanging ghosts and opted for a sleeker take on the haunting holiday.

{I’ve attached these little spiders to just about everything}

How do you decorate for Halloween?

That is so awesome, fantastic decorations
Growing up in Australia, I always wanted to celebrate Halloween.

I love the glittery skull, I actually found some similar to yours at my local dollar tree
I love the look you went for in decorating. I’m definitely gonna use your home as an inspiration!
Love it, Emily! Definitely NOT tacky!
Ireland doesn’t do Halloween as much as the States do but this year we’re going to completely ‘tackify’ the house. Fake cobwebs – little spiders – witch figurines – the lot!
oh i love halloween! but we dont really celebrate it out here and dont really go out for candies either and dress up. but i would love to experience it for sure!!! =D love the centerpiece!!!
I’m not sure I should “love” a bowl of skulls, but I do.
I will pass on Halloween decor… we have enough clutter as it is! I kind of like the skulls, though!
that glittery skull is awesome!
too bad over here in sg we dont celebrate halloween ):
always wondered what it feels like to trick-or-treat, lol

ohhhhhooooohh. i love that bowl of skeleton heads!
this is too cool!
Who knew Halloween could look so chic?! I love the sparkle skull in the bony hand. Nice touch.
SOOOO love it!
I make the decorations a combination of Halloween/Harvest things so that it doesn’t seem too theatre-esque. But that said, Halloween is my absolute favorite time of year, and a pinch of over-decorating never hurt anyone!
haha this is adorable!! my boyfriend goes crazy too, except ignores the “nothing tacky” rule. he does tons of halloween and fall decorations, i had to talk him out of big squirrel name card holders…
ha! these are great. i love the little spiders.
I think this is kind of cool. I love all the skulls.
You are so adorable…it’s more than a month away and you are clearly beyond excited! This is the first year we’ll be in a house for Halloween, so I’m thinking we’ll decorate our front steps with pumpkins, including a tiny one for our newest addition. Hmm…that’s about all I’ve got. Boring, right!? I’m much more of a Christmas girl, I suppose!
That looks fabulous, what chic Halloween decorations! I especially love the hand.
I’m so ready for this tonight – I’ve figured that I need to decorate in a way I can make it last through Thanksgiving (fall vs. halloween over load)… we are also not going to be HOME for halloween so I don’t want young kids to get the wrong idea outside that we are handing out candy when we won’t actually be there). I love your ideas they are very tasteful!!!
love those! i opted for the natural route this year, corn stalks, hay and pumpkins.
Nice choices! Certainly not tacky!
Love the bowl of skulls…i might try that one
Wow, Emily, a bit macabre aren’t we?! Hope there are some leaves and pumpkins to offset the skulls.
My 3rd grader has asked me since the beginning of September to start decorating for halloween. He LOVES it!! I have a haunted house that lights up and plays scary music…it is his favorite decoration…we sometimes keep it up until Christmas
ohh fun! When do we get a photo of the whole room?
Me? I usually ignore halloween until it goes away.
love the glittery skull =) i ignore halloween also.

love your halloween decor! i loveeee halloween. my fav holiday! wish it was a national holiday and we got to take a day off! i decorate with lots. this year i am going to do something a lil diff. hopefully i will do it soon so i can start to post pics up on my blog
thanks for sharing!!!!!
I don’t decorate for anything… but that’s because for most holidays we’re not here, and we’re too busy to try to clean it up after we’re done–the thought of it exhausts my husband and I… so we never do it.
It’s rather sad. Hopefully this year I can do some Christmas/Fall decor.
I usually go full-on cheese when I decorate, I think I’ll definitely be taking some inspiration from your stylin’ skulls this year… Thanks!!!

i love the bowl of skulls!!!
I’m ordering a ridiculously cute costume for my dog. He’ll probably serve as our decoration before, during and after the holiday!!
The bowl of skeletons is the best so far!
creepy.
ooh love it. where’d you get the clear console table?
target has an awesome black skull candle that melts red wax as it burns. It looks super cool and creepy.
oh, and word to the wise, the fake spider webbing may look cool, but it’s a huge pain to take it down when the best-holiday-ever is over.
Who knew halloween could be celebrated in style
!
So chic!!! I love the skulls!!
I really don’t celebrate Halloween, but I like your decorations, especially those spiders.
Love the skulls!
I love the glittery skull! Far from tacky. I usually don’t decorate as I don’t have enough time
I really love this though. That clear table is fabulous.

P.S. I’m doing a giveaway on my site
I don’t usually decorate for Halloween – but your chic set-up has inspired me to. Love those little spiders and the glass bowl full of skulls – you’re so creative!
Love.
who knew halloween could be so chic? i’ve always loved the holiday, but never decorate because it’s usually pretty cheesy, but i love this. you are a halloween decor genius!
Such a classy way to decorate!
I might get a little too excited and go all out!
I love those spiders! And Halloween
love the skeleton hand!

Love love.. Check out katespaperie.com they have skeleton heads that you can glitterize! love!
I usually go all out! Nothing too tacky, just a bowl of candy on the coffee table. Spiderwebs on the corners of my frame pictures. I have collected so many different Halloween pieces over the past few years. I love your little skeleton hand! Cute decorations.
Despite years of admiring your decorations, I still don’t do anything! I’ll just come over and revel in yours.
Wow I love the sparkly skeleton head…and the little hands. I have a large skull bowl I bought last year and like to fill it with candy. Also I love these little guys at Pier 1, we hung some on our fireplace last year:

As well as orange twinkle lights in the fireplace…or purple!

I don’t really decorate much; for me, it’s all about the yummy candy!
Very grown-up decorations. A liiiitle creepy, haha, but I guess that’s Halloween! I wrote a blog post on using custom stickers on windows, etc. for Halloween decorations: http://blog.sticviews.com/?p=765
Now I just have to decide how to decorate my office!
looks like your gonna have a fun halloween! i was in usa last week and you have so many decorations to choose from! not so much in england! no as fun xxxx
I usually help my friend Emily decorate since we do pumpkin carving at her house and because she does enough decorations for both of us!
With White Pumpkins. My mom calls them Ghost Pumpkins but I call them Albino Pumpkins.
LOVE THE SPARKLY DECORATIONS! I LOVE DECORATING FOR HALLOWEEN! THE BF AND I HAVE BINS AND BINS. <3
That black glittery skull! Wow! Love it!

You are so creative Emily!! I love everything that you’ve done!! I’m having a Halloween party this year and will definitely be using your ideas as inspiration. I’m going “old school” with my party and am going to have spaghetti in bowls as brains and peeled grapes as eyeballs!
I love Halloween so much!! It’s definitely my favorite! Do you know what you are going to dress up as???
xoxo,

Genius decorating. How cool are you!
Cheers.
You’ve inspired me! I just couldn’t resist mentioning you + your fabulous Halloween decor tips {here}. Hope you like, Emily!
I love these decorating ideas. I generally go pretty simply on mine with a spiderweb here and there and a pumpkin or two, but this post is inspiring me to get a little more creative in a non-tacky way – you’ve nailed it here!
I love it! I can’t wait to decorate!
Very tasteful Halloween decorating! I especially like the bowl of skeleton heads. Real cute.
nice! very subtle yet creepy.
We are totally on the same page for this year’s Halloween Decor. I just did a DIY for a spooky but chic Cameo Plaque that would fit for Halloween and year round. Would love for you to stop by…

I love that Halloween decor as of late has been trending toward classier, prettier pieces. I love what you’ve done (esp the glitter skull on the glass hand).
Amazing decorations!

lot about you
This is fantastic! I love how you’ve managed to decorate with skulls and spiders in a fun, fresh, modern way. The centerpiece is my favourite.
I love your ideas!!! Every year my family goes all out for Halloween, and it is always with orange, black, and purple. I like the fact that you put a modern touch to your decorations, it balances everything and doesn’t look cluttered.
