Norwegian Wood

April 15th, 2010

Often times, when it comes to shoes, you have to make sacrifices either in the comfort or looks department.   I’m not a big fan of having to make such decisions, which is why I insist that all of my heels have substantial platforms (case in point here, here and here).   They’re unbelievably elongating and if you have to run to catch a cab, it’s not a problem.  I love all of the wooden options this season since they’re sleek, but have a natural vibe that’s perfect for warmer months.  Here are just a few of my current favorites.

1. Diane von Furstenberg, $295.
2. Elizabeth and James, $350.
3. Steve Madden, $109.95
4. Belle by Sigerson Morrison, $218.40
5. Steve Madden, $109.95
6. Jeffrey Campbell, $124.95
7. Miu Miu, $495
8. Bakers, $59.95
9. DKNY, $130
10. Christian Louboutin, $545

Love the Bakers, which are incidentally the cheapest – bonus! I never thought I would see the day when clogs came back in, and I am surprised to find myself really liking what designers have done with the humble Dutch footwear!

I love this post! I thought I was the only one :) I find myself gravitating to all the funky platform shoes when I am out shopping. They are so comfortable and you don’t end up the one in the back of the group wabbling trying to catch up to rest of the group!

I love the look of wooden shoes but am not sure they’re practical. I have a pair of Ferragamo slides with wooden soles/heels and one of them has started to crack.

I’m not sure if I am ever able to walk in heels, but I absolutley love them. I have to agree with you on how the wooden options are very sleek. You’ve picked some great ones! The DKNY ones are my favorite.

Please flag vegan options for those of us who are looking for vegan shoe choices — the Baker’s shoes seem to possibly be vegan since microsuede is a man-made fabric.

Stunning! I always wanted a pair of shoes with wood soles. I don’t actually own any of them as I work in a place with hardwood floors and they always make so much noise :( anyone have a solution for that?

It figures I would love the jefferey Campbell ones the best, #6 without even knowing that’s who the designer was. I linked to your darling blog on my “Sunday Love,” post. I hope you enjoy, thank you for the continued inspiration.
