Nochella

Half of my office was empty yesterday since almost everyone was on their way to Coachella. Though I adore the desert, it’s because of the dry weather, the lack of activity, and the abundance of air conditioning. I have no desire to be squashed between thousands of sweaty bodies at a music festival. I took this picture on the way back from Palm Springs several weeks ago, and I like how the motorcycle came into the shot at the last second after we hadn’t seen another person for miles. Though the harsh pavement and windmills aren’t necessarily images that instill feelings of tranquility, the vastness of the desert is always calming to me.
