My Skincare Regimen

November 29th, 2012

As I approach thirty, I’ve started to pay attention to those little things I took for granted for years (fast metabolism! no need to wash my face before bed!) – namely my skincare regimen. While I’ve made some big adjustments over the years, like no tanning and always making sure to wear spf, it’s my day-to-day routine that needed some honing. For this week’s Estée Lauder post, I share my daily steps for getting my skin to look and feel its best, and I’d also love to hear if you have any skincare tips or tricks by which you swear!

Have you ever thought of not washing your face with water everyday? Garance Dore wrote a post aboutt his a few months ago, and I’ve followed her skin regimen since then, i.e. using miscellar water with a cotton pad, rather than washing my face, and my skin has been looking much more radiant since then!

I agree sunscreen is SUPER important. It’s never too early to start a good skincare regimen :)

    Love the products you use!

You have great skin regimen! I really like Estee Lauder’s products, but I’m not using just their products, but combine them with LaMer and Lancome ones, that seems to do the trick for me, to use certain products from these three brands.

I believe that taking care of your skin is more important than finding the right foundation or any make up actually! Lately (as in the past year) I’ve been investing more time on taking care of my skin too!! I enjoyed this post and when I run out of a product from my current regime, I want to try something from Estee Lauder out, haha!

    Such a fabulous post!

Like you and I never really bothered with things like that, but now that I’ve reached 30 I find it very important

The antioxidants in slices of lemons/limes are really beneficial as well! Great tips!

My 30th birthday is this Sunday, and I too have made some changes to my skincare routine. I always make sure to wash my face at night, and when my skin get super dry (mostly during winter) I slather on a layer of organic olive oil right before bed! Makes my skin silky smooth in the morning.

I love the Advanced Night Repair! It has done wonders to transform the texture of my skin so it’s smoother and better able to absorb my night cream.

    good choices!

I am obsessed with my Clairsonic. I use it every night and immediately noticed a huge difference in my skin. It’s amazing and worth every penny!

  • Alex

the best tip I have received lately is to make sure you are applying your eye cream far eough away from your eyes! cream usually moves an inch over your skin, so applying it too close will just leave you with cream in your eyes, and let’s face it – nobody likes that.

I use warm water when i exfoliate to help open pores but I always, always use cold water when cleansing and rinsing.

I also have two different moisturizers; one for spring/summer and one for fall/winter.

  • Leo

You are loading your skin with lots of chemicals, perfumes, synthetics and parabens. They are known to cause cancer and other illnesses. :(

I use the same moisturized and I am 100% addicted! I would love to try the Advanced Night Repaid next! xx

As I approach my mid-twenties, I’ve already started to realize how important it is to take good care of my skin. I love my Olay Pro-X brush (much cheaper than the Clarasonic) but have found a new obsession with the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye! It’s amazing.

I should really follow your lead and try a skincare post.

I swear by keeping it simple – Dove soap, an SPF 30 moisturizer, and I call it a day! If my skin gets really dry, extra virgin coconut oil is a miracle. Tea tree oil for blemishes. Bam. Done!

Great tips! I try to keep it all natural, except for an eye cream. I use a little raw shea butter for a moisturizer…natural spf and great to fight acne, scars AND wrinkles! :)

I know this is Estee Lauder-product based post but still your tips are basic and good! And no-tanning is a key,it helps your skin to stay younger! I also adore handcremes,I use some organic products but that’s my choice. Thanks!

  • Rachel

I agree with Kimberly (right above me). Loading up on all these expensive cosmetics and creams really adds a lot of unnecessary chemicals to your daily routine. I use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil to remove my makeup and moisturize. Occasionally I’ll use a watered down apple cider vinegar toner. Simple and all natural!

I try to always wash off my makeup as well (harder to remember when tipsy, which also happens to usually be when I’m wearing the most makeup after going out), and SPF is super-important – you have to start young! Sunscreen in your teens can prevent wrinkles when you’re 40! I also try to wear as little foundation as possible, because it always clogs my pores and I end up breaking out, and I’ve heard it can cause premature aging. It’s reassuring to see you do some of these things too (my friends think I’m crazy for wearing sunscreen every day) because your skin still looks fantastic!

Estee Lauder – I know that they’re making it rain on you via sponsorship, but their products aren’t worth the money they ask for.

Water, SPF and no tanning – three solid steps to keep your skin tip top.

This is a great post, I have always loved Estee Lauder products! I want to try that lip stuff and the eye cream cooler!

I used to use Lancome and Estee Lauder skin care products until I discovered BeautiControl. Absolutely the best skin care products at half the price. And they don’t test on animals, use parabens, sulfates or gluten!

A good tip about applying eyecream is to start from the outter corner of your eye inward. This helps move the lymph fluid. Resulting inb less puffy eyes and in the reduction of dark circles.

Great advice and products! I love Estee Lauder. My little tip is that I don’t actually take the time to use a cotton ball to spread toner on my face. I just put a little in the palm of my hand and pat all over face. Saves that tiny moment in time when you just want to pass out at night and skip the entire toner regime.
