Cupcakes and Cashmere

I didn’t get my ears pierced until I was 18. I never thought earrings would be a good look for me and even to this day I feel like they sometimes make me feel too dressy. But I’m kind of obsessed with this singular stud/chain/cuff that makes such an impact, despite how dainty it is. It even prompted me to momentarily consider another ear piercing, though I learned the hard way (through a regrettable belly button ring), that made me decide against it almost immediately.

I love your sweater! The ear cuff is cute, but I prefer the ones that make a big statement!

    Emily,

I love the earring cuff and your look.
Just wanted to say thanks for your great “Cupcakes and Cashmere” book. I was so happy to find it at one of my favorite bookstores in Denver and I snapped it up for a bunch of the ladies on my shopping list. The photos in it our gorgeous and it’s such a great gift.

When wearing earrings like that, I’m always so terrified I’ll accidentally have it catch on something. You look adorable as always!

While I sincerely enjoy certain aspects of your blog, your outfit choices lately leave me bemused. I too live in LA, and work in fashion, but can never understand WHERE you are going dressed in these outfits. I realise your blog is “aspirational” in many facets, but I’m genuinely curious if you actually run around in LA in said get-up, or if you’re just getting dressed for your blog and change into jeans and flats as soon as the cameras stop rolling. I’m guessing the latter.

    • stop

Totally agree with Caroline L. and also the comment below this. Where are you going in these outfits? In all seriousness, look at yourself. Look at your sleeves. Look at your shoes. Does this really look like it goes? Stand up straight in your first pic. Comeeee on girl. I look for inspiration not sloppy.

Sorry, princess – totally not feeling this look nor the headline….

While I’m sure you did not mean to offend or be insensitive regarding the CT tragedy, I do believe an apology is in order for your distasteful headline.

    • stop

agreed. Especially since I just read your post below in regards to the tragedy.

Love that dainty ear cuff! I don’t wear earrings a lot, because I have long hair so they almost never show and they tend to irritate me. But this is very cute. I keep wondering when I’m going to take out my belly ring since I’ve had it for so long – no one sees it but my husband and I just think it’s so cute!

Let me start by saying that all of the pieces pictured in this outfit are quite lovely. JUST NOT TOGETHER.
Chambray over the skirt makes it look frumpy. The skirt does not really have a shape at all – it is a city mini gone wrong. The color block sweater is so obviously not a layering piece (!) I normally love the chambray denim and navy blazer combination but the sweater sleeves just make you look like a bag lady not a school girl. If you must have the denim shirt in this outfit, swap out the skirt for a plaid mini with a cleaner silhouette. This outfit missed the mark (not even sure what it was aiming for).

I agree with you! Not liking this look at all.

  • Giovanna

Cute look! Love how you added the colorful sweater underneath!

First thing I fell in love with in this outfit was definitely the shoes…followed immediately by the amazing earring (I’m sure there’s a more descriptive name for that).
    I love it all though!

Emily, I have to agree with the previous comments given by Alessandra and CC.
I’m suprised you didn’t “deep think” this one out. Be what your blog transcends sweet and stylish because this post wasn’t. You should remove this post.

A lot of critics today. Yikes.

Anyway, the J.Crew Chambray is definitely a wardrobe essential. Every girl should have a denim button-up in her closet.

    Thanks for sharing!
