Mirror, Mirror
Over the past several years I’ve been collecting antique gold mirrors that I found at flea markets. They’re all different shapes and sizes in various conditions, but that’s what makes the collection so special. Yesterday I finally got around to arranging them and hung them up on our red wall (something I’ve been meaning to do since August 2008). They add such a regal touch and I love how the detailed edges really pop.

that is beyond awesome.
So creative! They’re lovely.
That looks sooo good! The gold and red go really well together. It’s making me regret my boring palette of silver and white
LOVE! This is very inspiring. I am totally saving this in my home and my wedding inspiration folders!
Such a cute idea! I love it!

it looks beautiful. the red wall makes it so much nicer too. i’ve always wanted to do something like this just haven’t gotten around to it…
Looks amazing.. I’ve always wanted to do that with picture frames but I think I like the mirrors better.. Reflecting light! I also love the red wall we had it at our last place and it was fantastic. Love your blog!

Emily, this is gorgeous! Love it, love it, love it.
That looks really good. I have a few gilt mirrors I could group… *copies*
This turned out really well! The gold against the red background is gorgeous.
Great idea. The wall is super cute. I wish I could be as crafty as you are…
That looks so great! I would never think to do that. I like how the shapes compliment each other and the way everything stands out with the red. Yum!
Those look awesome! I think I’m going to have to start going to flea markets – you find such great stuff!
This looks great! I love the red wall, too – it’s the perfect shade of red.

I’ve got a similar collection! Except mine’s a lot smaller and they’re frames. I’m finding it so difficult to find them cheaply in London! Nx
Love the idea. I want do add tons of mirror in my hallway! XOXO
just discovered your blog! and while i’m searching for new interiour-ideas this is really a perfect inspiration for me!
my mom has a antique mirror arrangement in her dining room on a black wall and it’s always been one of my favorite things about our house. yours looks amazing! xo

I’m so glad I stumbled upon your site! I love your style!!! The mirrors looks great, especially against the red wall.
That look so great, Emily! I love the bright red with the gold and the character that the antique mirrors bring to the room.
You are so creative and have a wonderful eye for interior design.
I wish I had such an eye for interior design.
Perfect on that red wall! You’re right. ..the rich color really highlights the unique detailing of each frame.
What an awesome touch to a wall! You’re so creative, Emily.
Very nicely done!
I love it I always wondered how one went about arranging the mirrors … the tape is brilliant!

Wow, love the collection of mirrors Emily!

I never would have thought to do this! Very cool.
I love this! I wanted to do the same with art but frames are pricy! Fantastic job!

This is a lovely idea!!
Emily–what a great idea! I’ve thought of doing a photo wall…but had never considered a mirror wall.
XO Piper
I’ve been wanting to do JUST THIS in our home for at least eight years! Looks gorgeous, Emily.
Love it!
I need to get around to doing all the things around the house that I’ve been meaning to do.
Similar to my collection of framed photos. looks so great on the red wall!
love it. especially love putting painters’ tape on the wall to mark out the boundaries of your collage. clever.
I love this look! I’m glad you got around to it.
I’ve been meaning (read: putting off) doing a gallery wall above my bed…now that I see how easy the process is I’m finally going to do it. the turquoise tape looked so cool I’d consider painting some molding to attach and make a frame around the whole thing!
great idea! I’ve been thinking of doing something like this in my house. I just haven’t quite gotten started yet.
LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How wonderful! I’ve always wanted to buy mirrors, too, but I have this irrational fear that the ones from flea markets contain ghosts.
:-/
What a wonderful idea!
Just beautiful! Great idea.
stellar.
I’ve totally been looking to do this for a while as well! Unfortunately, due to my job, I move quite regularly and I am saving all of my fun ideas for when I can “settle in”. I must admit, you probably pulled it off better than I could/would!
Fabulous idea! Been stalking your blog forever! Don’t stop blogging and thus inspiring the rest of us!
LOVE this. Great job!
I love this. I like the idea of the frame of tape so you have a clear outline of where they will be. I did this with picture frames although I did a lot of measuring!
The red wall is SO fun!!

What a great idea! It looks chic against the red wall – sometimes vintage can look stuffy but I love this! Parfait!
i can’t even express how much i adore this! i’m right now thinking of a place where i could make this work in my home! thanks for such a great idea!!
great finds, emily. i love all the different frames.
Love the finished look & the step by step! Great idea and such a grand look!

Love all the different shapes and sizes! Goergeous!

OMG I love this!
jem, i love it!
Incredible! SO weird…I was just thinking about doing this the other day, and now that I see yours, I LOVE it!!! Totally doing this in our next place — love when it’s done with picture frames, also!
Those look awesome.
A gorgeous outcome! I love the idea. I’ve been scouting around for some vintage mirrors for our home, but haven’t had any luck yet. This keeps me inspiried to keep looking!
Gorgeous! What a great idea. The red wall is a perfect contrast.
Love it! I’m trying to do the same with silver mirrors, but only have 3 collected so far. I need to get to work on my collection!
this is amazing! so creative and original! love it!
i collect old vintage mirrors too! using the border is such a great idea when placing them. thank you for the tip AND inspiration!

awesome! i’ve always wanted to do that on a spare wall…it really brings in the light and opens up the space.
I LOVE IT!!!!!! Im getting ready to decorate and I just love that idea! Soo cute!
I love that wall! It must be nice to have mirrors of different sizes. I never thought of that before!
Hey, that looks really good! I’m at estate sales & flea markets a lot, buying inventory for my shop. I normally just shop for clothes & accessories, but now I’ll have to keep my eye out for mirrors too.
Beautiful. What a lovely project to start the year. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Your wall looks amazing! Nice work, I may have to copy and tweak it fit my apartment!
http://www.secondcitysavvy.blogspot.com/
Cute idea. I just noticed your reflection in the 4th picture, very cool
That came out so great, Em! And I love how you taped off where they’d all go. This is such a good idea. I still haven’t hung the artwork in Devon’s room because I’m always so scared to commit to a hammer and nail, but I feel like masking off an area makes it all a little less scary. I’m going to try this next week!
I LOVE this idea! I’ve been dying to do something like this ever since I saw it for the first time (which weirdly enough was in the bathroom of some designer’s showroom while I was interning for Elle!)
Absolutely love this idea – I’ve been totally inspired to do a fun wall in my house now!
gorgeous collection! – Natalya of Wear Necessities
So lovely! I’m glad you found the time to do this!
yeah they look awesome! I love gold mirrors so much. So glad you finally got around to it.. well worth the wait
wow i love those! great idea to use tape as an outline!
love the gold & red!
Beautiful! I love that it’s random, but put together. I also like that you taped an outline first. Great idea!
what a great idea! I love those antique ornate frames. I don’t have a red wall, so I would have painted the frames in cool colors to make them pop on the white wall.
that looks so great! I really love your stlye and your blog, hope you keep on writing for a long time
love the red well…looks great with the big windows as well.

What an innovative way to create a focal point in a room! Love it.
It looks wonderful!
This look amazing and your collection is beautiful! I’ve always loved antique frames and mirrors.
That’s awesome! I have an empty red wall, too … hmmm!
This is a stunning idea! I have been meaning to hang several picture frames of all shapes and sizes and never thought of using tape, excited to do so!
xxx Talia
such a great idea to square it off with tape the way that you did. i learned the hard way when trying to arrange frames in my living room….
I’ve been meaning to do it also but mixed with antique photo frame with black and whites pictures of some of my best memories or just fashion but stilly very classy.. you have a great sense of style in many ways and I LOVE it!
xoxo
It looks really nice…what a great collection!
Nice touch! I love that shade of red as well.

Very cool. I would love to see a whole shot of the room to get the full effect.
These look awesome and the contrast with the wall really improves the whole look so much! How long have you been collecting these for and I was wondering what the square footage of that space is.
Love this it’s gorgeous. So Creative!
fun!
That is such an awesome idea, I love the collection of mirrors and the red wall! Genius! (Might have to start some collection as such of my own…)
Awesome idea! I’ve been trying to figure out a different idea for something on our big wall, and something like this is perfect! Love your blog!
Georgeous!
Love how modern the antique frames look in this arrangement.
The red backdrop is just stunning – it fully complements the gilded frames!!
What a clever and unique idea. I love putting together different or strangely shaped picture frames and doing the same thing.
I love coming to your blog because you blog on so many different things. I also think the painters tape is clever-it took me forever to get my frames to look “put-together”. Love your tips!
Cheers, Jesa
awesome!! I love the progression of it!
Gorgeous!
These look really really cute!!
i am going to copy you with silver mirrors on a wall in my foyer!!!!
thanks for the inspiration!!!!!

I LOVE THIS!
i love the mirror collage and tape marking tip! the mirror, 2nd row & furthest left, feels odd horizontal when it clearly has a top/bottom.

What a NEAT idea! WOW! i love it!!!
I love this! I did something similar with vintage photo frames. They are so fun to collection. Great idea with taping the wall first! I’m not that crafty…
http://www.mock-off.com
Great idea! I love how you used the masking tape to keep the frames in line. I probably would’ve just started hanging them, hoping for the best and cursing myself when it turned out all crooked.
VeRy Unique!!
AMAZING!! i’ve been wanting to do that in my room (and cover an entire wall) with gold picture frames, but i think i like mirrors better… or maybe mirrors AND picture frames??
xx
I LOVE how this looks!
I might have to remove the TV from the purple wall in my bedroom and do this exact same thing! Looks so good!
Great project! turned out a real show stopper!
Love it
LOVE this. I can’t believe how many good ones you found. I never have luck at thrift stores.

I LOVE this idea! How cute and vintage!
. I’m definitely going to remember this, when I’m in need of a decorating idea!
That’s it! You’re officially my hero! I recently started my own mirror collection (I have a total of 2!) and it’s really inspiring to see how amazing it will look once I amass a whole bunch of them. And using the tape to mark off the area you wanted to fill? Genius!
I really love this idea!
THIS IS TOO GOOD!!

Beautiful! i’ve done something similar with empty photo frames as its such a great way to liven up and break up coloured spaces.
