Man, I Feel Like a Woman

boys-clothes.jpg

I never find it particularly sexy when a man wears feminine pieces (think necklaces and man-purses).   But when a woman dresses as if she’s stolen things from her boyfriend’s closet, it exudes a whole new level of seductiveness that just can’t quite be accomplished in a frilly dress.  It’s the perfect opportunity to throw on some matte red lipstick, tousle your hair and embrace your femininity in a whole new way.  Here are some of the pieces that I’d be happy to share with my boyfriend.

Blazer – McQ $555
Glasses – UO $10
Cardigan – Topshop $80
Watch – Michael Kors $195
Jeans – Current/Elliott $245
T-shirt – Kain $90
Tote – Chloé $2,030
Shoes – Church’s $425

Will you be embracing this masculine trend?

i love the masculine trend, but i’m not too sure i can pull it off myself. i suppose it’s just a case of finding a key piece and rolling with it.
i do have a “boyfriend-fit” white shirt, and it’s gotten me a lot of attention, for some reason the men love it when you wear their clothes…
good post as usual, it makes me wish i wasn’t just a student so i could buy that bag! :)

You’re right! I love the whole thing in this post<3

I LOVE the Oxford trend! I have a pair myself.

8 Fanny G { 11.04.09 at 3:56 am }

LOOVE the watch. And the blazer, and the jeans… :)

9 Erin { 11.04.09 at 4:55 am }

YES I WILL, I love the boy meets girl look, and besides, everyone knows that boys clothes are more comfortable :)

10 Closet Cravings { 11.04.09 at 5:13 am }

I love the masculine look because it manages to be comfy and chic. I love boyfriend jeans and classic blazers. =)

11 Katie { 11.04.09 at 5:40 am }

Recently I bought the boyfriend jeans and now it is all I ever want to wear. I love the pieces you put together and wish I could buy it all! This style is also fun with a pair of chuck taylors if you are looking for even more casual. Great post!

12 Snapshot Fashion { 11.04.09 at 5:42 am }

love these looks you pulled. i love the masculine look when it is done right

13 Pretty Little World { 11.04.09 at 6:04 am }

I think that watch is my favorite of the pieces — I can’t quite believe it’s under $200! It just looks so much more expensive than that!

Love the whole post!

14 The Fancier { 11.04.09 at 6:08 am }

I love the “boyish” trend and I think I pretty much own everything in your set. Sometimes it’s nice not to have to feel constrained and contorted in your clothes and simply just comfortable.

15 thebeautyfile { 11.04.09 at 6:09 am }

I love the watch, glasses and blazer. I could never in a million years wear the shoes, as much as I would love to…or maybe I could?? Totally want to see how you style those shoes!

16 Melissa { 11.04.09 at 6:51 am }

LOVE the greys!! :)

17 Christina { 11.04.09 at 7:00 am }

Yea, I agree. All of these pieces either combined or used separately can look stunning on a woman.

18 Brianne { 11.04.09 at 7:05 am }

I think I need to get that watch! I also love the bag, but its a little out of my price range ;)

19 Sally { 11.04.09 at 7:08 am }

I can never pull off the boyfriend/androgynous look myself … I always look like I’m in drag!

20 Couture Cookie { 11.04.09 at 7:16 am }

Funny, I almost see it as the other way around. I love it when guys wear feminine clothes (exception for my boyfriend, who I prefer to see in classic guy clothing)…. but I don’t care much for this fall’s menswear trend for women.

21 stacy di { 11.04.09 at 7:19 am }

I love all the looks…and am totally embracing the masculine trend…

22 Jacqueline { 11.04.09 at 7:39 am }

I love the shoes and the blazer, everything actually. What a great look!

24 Lexie { 11.04.09 at 7:45 am }

as long as the pieces are semi- tailored to fit my frame, i’d wear any of these!

25 mart and lu { 11.04.09 at 7:47 am }

i love it! that is totally how i am with my fiance…i particularly enjoy borrowing his oversized sweaters. that way i can just wear them over a pair of tights!

26 Liv { 11.04.09 at 8:08 am }

While I completely agree with you, and love to wear my boyfriend’s t-shirts and sweaters when he’s not around, now I’m gonna be stuck with that song in my head for the rest of the day!!! :p

It’s absolutely gorgeous! I have a lot of the pieces shown, and I love wearing them – it’s a great look.

28 Gabrielle { 11.04.09 at 8:11 am }

i already do! but i like to rock the calculator watch!

29 Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic { 11.04.09 at 8:20 am }

At first I wasn’t feeling the whole boyfriend fit jeans… then I tried them on… heaven! And I wasn’t pleased about the cardigans coming back in boyfriend fit. Then I bought one and actually I’m really in love. It makes me feel like a kid again when long sweaters and stretch pants were all the rage!

30 Lauren Estep { 11.04.09 at 8:25 am }

I too love the look of a girl in what could be or are a guy’s clothes. In fact, today I am wearing a cardigan similar to the one in your post (it how0ever, was only $20 from F21!) Great post with some great finds :)

31 Jane { 11.04.09 at 8:32 am }

I love it because ironically, I feel like you have to be really feminine to pull off this look. At least, that’s how I feel.

And that tote. AHH I want it!

38 Cafe Fashionista { 11.04.09 at 10:20 am }

Boys clothes always make me giddy. I will most definitely be embracing the masculine trend! :)

39 Kristie Bertucci { 11.04.09 at 10:31 am }

41 Bargain Bex { 11.04.09 at 11:10 am }

Oh yes indeed-y, I will most certainly be rockin’ this masculine style trend.

Already have the grey, patent leather-y oxfords and long tunic tees to prove it … now all I need is an oversized blazer/cardigan :)

Haha, I have the shoes and the glasses :d

(also nice in combination with very girly dresses)

43 jaeve+tings { 11.04.09 at 11:26 am }

i’ve always wanted to embrace it but i think i’ll look like a dork.

44 Rachel (heart of light) { 11.04.09 at 11:43 am }

I’d take the watch in an instant! Although I own quite a few watches and I don’t think I’ve worn one in over a year.

45 Highdee { 11.04.09 at 12:10 pm }

Yeah, frickin great. Too bad I feel and look like a boy too much already sometimes, that people confuse me for a boy.

I love this look! Just by changing the cardigan for the blazer, you have two different outfits. Too bad I don’t have 3 grand to buy everything, but I will definitely be recreating this look on a budget. This is more my style than girlie (although I still love a flirty dress!)

53 Jessica (Haute Teapot) { 11.04.09 at 2:52 pm }

I totally steal pieces from my boyfriend’s closet somewhat often. ; ) I’ve done a couple of posts with his sweater, shirt, whatever I can get my lil hands on! I have to say though, I do want to steal a necklace of his, he made it with an old bullet casing and used a piece of purple agate.

54 Being Loving Doing { 11.04.09 at 2:56 pm }

I’ve always dressed like a boy for casual event, grocery shopping and stuff like that. Converse, bombers and so on. But I can’t embrace this new trend of stealing your boyfriend whole more dressed up wardrobe. I can borrow only one thing at a time. Most of the time the jacket or shirt watch. But A total look is not possible. I’m not fan of the boyfriend jean at all

I wasn’t quite sure of the outfit but when I read your description I felt totally in love with it, I’ll try to pull it off one day, just to try and hear opinions from friends and new ones ;)

Oh great…just what I need ANOTHER Michael Kors watch! LOVE IT! The only thing I would do different with this look is wear some heels instead. I can’t be too manly!

72 Alya { 11.08.09 at 2:24 pm }

Gosh that is so true. A man dressing like a woman is such a turn-off, but a woman dressing in men’s stuff is so cute. I wonder why!
