Cupcakes and Cashmere

Madeleines

February 3rd, 2011

I think Madeleines (also known as French Butter Cakes) are one of the cutest treats around. Shaped like little seashells, they’re moist and full of flavor and make you feel elegant even if you’re dunking them into luke-warm coffee for breakfast. When I was little, the man who worked at the deli in the grocery store would slip me one whenever I’d come in and they’ve been a favorite of mine ever since. I followed this recipe (I found 11 minutes in the oven was sufficient) and have since decided that they make an excellent snack any time of the day.

I thought of you the other day when I made Beignets. Don’t know if you’ve ever made them, but it felt like a “Cupcakes and Cashmere” kind of thing to do. THANKS for inspiring me! (o:

You’ve stacked them up upside down, bad luck in France. I’m not really superstitious but I just had to say – the perfectionist and the Parisian in me had to mention though, sorry ;) xx

I think I saw some pictures of you on Rue magazine. The sept/oct issue. but I’m not sure if it was you or not.

Oh, I would love these for my morning coffee! I also can’t wait until my morning coffee is actually full caf. You’d think that rather than go back to a somewhat questionable caffeine habit I’d stick to half-caf since I’ve been drinking it throughout both pregnancies, but I am craving caffeine.

And also, now, these madeleines. :)

PS: I got a very neat press release from a girl at Glamour yesterday. Tee hee hee…yayayaya!! xx
