Lotion Up

March 24th, 2008

I discovered perfume when I was in 7th grade, much to my mother’s horror. My first purchase was a raspberry oil, which I would practically bathe in before school. It took a long time to realize that perfumes are fragrance accents, not aroma masks. Occasionally, I still wear perfumes, but I make sure they’re only traceable when I’m hugging someone and not when I walk in the door. Instead, I use body lotions, which lightly coat my skin, leaving behind a silky finish that only suggests at a fragrance. My favorite is Archipelago‘s white sugar and mango lotion, that goes on smooth, and keeps my skin hydrated and soft. Though it smells good enough to eat, it’s subtle so nobody ever mistakes me for a baked good.

I completely agree; I had the same experience when I’d practically soak myself in perfume before leaving my house in the morning! Now, I prefer lotion, especially for it’s multitasking quality: a sweet scent and smooth legs in one? Perfect.
