Linzer Cookies
Sometimes there’s nothing better than a sweet, simple cookie. I had an extra bag of almonds from when I made these, so I decided to put them to good use. For those who have never had a Linzer Cookie (recipe here), they’re typically reserved for the holidays, but I think they’re acceptable any time of the year. They’re light and and flaky and I always make a note to invite at least one girlfriend over for afternoon tea when I have a few of these lying around since they make an impact in the prettiest way.

So cute! I’m positive you won’t have time during your stay in NYC, but there is a fantastic section of the Bronx called Arthur Avenue which is the REAL Little Italy of the city. The bakeries there make the most delicious linzer cookies (and cannolis — yum!).
