Lessons at Fashion Week
With each recurring Fashion Week, I come home with lessons learned and a greater appreciation for prevailing taste. I’m heading back to L.A. this afternoon, but not without sharing my top five things I discovered while in New York.
1. Anna Wintour’s hair really is as perfect as I had always imagined (I sat intimidatingly close to her at the Sophie Theallet show).
2. Pack extra Band-Aids when you plan on propping yourself up in 5″ heels for multiple hours at a time.
3. A clean and simple ponytail never goes out of style.
4. Despite how late you stay out the night before, there’s nothing a couple slices of New York pizza can’t cure.
5. If the entire contents of your suitcase are splayed across your hotel room, don’t be ashamed to decline the maid service.

Such a cute fashion week post! Another must have when wearing those 5″ heels is Band Aid Friction Block Stick. Those blisters won’t have a chance. I never leave home without it!

Band-Aid brand blister band aids. Put them on before the painful shoes and they work miracles.

LOL. Am writing this down! … especially about the band aids.
you really need to get blisterblock sticks!!! the one i use is band-aid brand. they ACTUALLY work, though you may have to sneak to the ladies’ room and reapply throughout the day or night once or twice.
Love this post! Anna Wintour scares me.

I think I would have actually fainted being so close to Anna Wintour. She scares me to death (although I so want to be her). Jealous that you got to see the Max Azria show!
I love this post. So glad you had a fabulous time, Emily!!
Did it cross your mind to say hi to Anna? The fear of rejection is too high of a risk.
You brought a smile to my face today with the Anna Wintour hair comment!!!! A tough week with a sick toddler-I was in need of an easy laugh! So how does one get the honor of going to fashion week? I can only dream………(sigh) I love your sense of style-you should be walking the runways with the best of them! I am happy at the moment with Jcrew’s EXTRA20! Check out today’s post! I was attending a couple of shows at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and I was amazed by the energy and the great atmosphere! It is absolutely like magic inside those tents. The clothes were absolutely stunning and I thought it was amazing that I was in the same room with the greatest talent in the industry. I have fabulous photos from the shows,I wish I could show you!
Your poor toesies! Well, I’m sure you had a blast. That pizza looks ridiculously tasty.
Your little pearls of wisdom are wonderful. The Barney’s sale tips and now this… I think its something unique your blog delivers
I’m totally with you on the Band-Aids, except I’m a teacher – so, often time they are Spongebob or something of the sort!

I love this post for so many reasons, not the least of which is that perfect shot of Anna’s perfect hair. I’d seen it quite a few times in the CN elevators over the years, but I imagine sitting behind her and her perfect bob would be that much more rewarding (because you could actually stare at it without looking like a level 5 stalker!)
i especially love the photo of anna wintour’s head. perfection.
love everything about this post!
the pizza looks so delish. and i cant believe you were that close to anna wintour, so fab
xx
fall in love with a shooting star…
