Layer Cake
H&M Top, Forever 21 Sweater and Belt, Vintage Cuff, Urban Outfitters Skirt, Gryson Bag, Vintage Boots
Since the weather is almost always warm in Los Angeles, I have minimal experience when it comes to layering. With this sweater in particular though, I wanted to overlap the two sides to create a more slimming silhouette, a trick I inherited after seeing Sarah Jessica Parker do the same here. Sadly, this only worked until lunch, after which I was too full to keep my belt wrapped around both my top and sweater comfortably. Note to self: when layering, go up a size to accommodate extra layers so that my belt doesn’t pop off unexpectedly.

Emily!! You look fabulous!! Such a fun outfit… I haven’t had much time to post comments lately, so much going on, but I meant to tell you I love your V-Day at Disneyland, such a nice idea. Glad to be back xx
cool style!!!
That is such an amazing outfit. You look incredible. I heart your sweater.
I like everything: the belt, the boots, the skirt, your hair!

I love your clothes! Although I’m not sure if that sweater is right for that outfit ….maybe without the long sleeves????
Love the plaid! I’m crazy about just about anything plaid, and you really have come up with something pretty and unique and classic. That studded belt is a surprising but very nice touch.
I love layering! your bag is so gorgeous, how come it’s always sunny over there? feelinv very jealous right now
Love this layered look. Your hair looks gorgeous!
The belted sweater & skirt look so good on you! And your hair…it’s like a Pantene commercial!
Such a comfy look …
this look is adorable! you layer mighty well for someone from cali…better than me…and i live in nyc!
I’m not normally a fan of studded belts, but this is so cute!
Adore the outfit!
I like it very nice. I wish I could pull that off!
Is that what you wore you to work?? I’m so jealous!! It’s a completely fab outfit, and as always, you look wonderful.
I just wanted to say that you have great hair!
That is so unexpectedly cute! If you said plaid + chunky sweater + studded belt I might cringe, but it looks fabulous.
super cute outfit!
love the outfit!
so cute emily! i live in canada so we are all about the layers! i am jealous of your warm weather.
oh this ensemble is super adorable!
Where do you get that skirt? wowness.:)
i’ll have to try that overlapping sweater and belt trick. very cute! i’m already well-acquainted with the popping-off-belt trick.
Thanks for commenting on my blog, ooohh now I know. Thanks
i really like the cardi and those boots!
You look great! This is one of my favorite outfits on you that I’ve seen. Your really do have a Serena van der Woodsen quality about you. And I mean that as a great compliment!
I love the layers! I have a sweater like the one in your pics and will definitely try your slimming technique!
I think I avoid belts for exactly this reason. They feel fine in the morning but I end up feeling like my stomach is being strangled. I guess that might be a sign that my lunches are too big.
Was totally gonna buy that belt. Looks amazing on you!
I love how you paired it what that UO skirt!
I’m in love with this ensemble!
so true about the size issue with layering. Too cute!

you look so pretty in all of these pictures.
such a cute outfit. love the belt!
I love these layers so much! And that belt is great. I definitely want something like it.
Thank God! I’m not the only one who is confused when it comes to cold-weather fashion… it’s so much easier to be stylish in the warmer months, let’s be honest. You did well though, very cute!
that outfit is so cute!! and for not having to layer so often, you’re doing it quite well
Very cute! I like the belt.
Great layering! I need a chunky belt like that. The plaid skirt tops it off. It creates a perfect transition from winter to spring.
OMG! That outfit is super cute! I love how well all the colors flow together. P.S… I LOVE PLAID!
Great belt. I love the vintage boots, too.
Lovely.
EMILY,
It’s he way you put it together…YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT WELL. : )

Gorgeous! I thought the first one was a model or Hollywood star for a second.
Reminds me of Serena Van Der Woodsen <3
This look is too cute. I’m so happy I live somewhere cold enough to do this all the time. However I seriously envy your “warm weather” wardrobe 24/7.
Fabulous outfit! I featured you in my last posting!
