L.A. Institution
This week marks the 75th Anniversary of the Original Farmers Market by the Grove. It was one of the first places I would visit when I moved to L.A. and the same spot my grandma bought her produce many years ago. It’s home to nearly every kind of ethnic food and a great place to people watch and witness a little bit of Los Angeles magic.

I went with vanilla dipped in chocolate.

These are wonderful pictures! A side of L.A. most of us don’t ever see or know about. And vanilla dipped in chocolate sounds life a very wise choice

Yum ♥
Beautiful photographs! Something so nostalgic and comforting about them
It’s funny how your blog turns into the perfect insider’s guide to LA… if I visit it someday, i’ll definitely have your blog in mind! By the way, if you visit Barcelona (Spain) saomeday, there’s a similar market to that one, called “La Boqueria”, which I highly recommend!

Good memories of the F.M., so delightful, and your pics are superb! When will you be coming up this way?
Yum, vanilla dipped in chocolate is one of my all time favorites. That and mint chocolate chip (the green one). Looks like a neat place with a lot of character!

LOVE the last natural photo of you too, emily.

sweet!! i remember visiting the Farmer’s Market when i was in L.A.
Unfortunately, I was a 16 yr old silly teenager, so I didn’t appreciate it as much as I would today! Lovely green dress, btw.
I love farmer’s market – with all the fresh fruits and veggies and treats you will never find in supermarkets. Oh an dthe unbeatable prices of course!
I have yet to go to this farmers market. I usually go to the one in Santa Monica on Main Street (closer to Venice) and I love it! I been wanting to try this one and you post makes it look so awesome!
love the farmers market- did they have anything special going on for the anniversary? love the new orleans cajun place- usually get the fried chicken pecan salad, soooo yummy!
The look on your face, trying to pick out your ice cream, is the berries
Hope you have a great weekend!
It looks positively magical. But that might be your photographic skills at work!

One of my favorite places! I love the crepes! Yum! Love the pictures. You give the city good press!
Too cute!! Seriously, your boy is *quite* the photographer — the photo of you picking out an ice cream flavor looks like it’s out of a cute magazine photo shoot! And all the other ones — such pretties!

Is that the F21 dress you were thinking of buying?
What a lovely farmer’s market! I now feel like I need a glass canister full of loose tea on my kitchen counter. Sadly, our farmer’s markets just closed for the season and won’t be open again until October.
I so love the farmers market!

This looks like an amazing farmer’s market. Any time I can get ice cream dipped in chocolate is a great day for me!! Have good weekend!
Your pictures are getting better and better! Wish I lived closer to that place for the ethnic food alone. And the Grove isn’t bad either.
I am obsessed with The Grove. Every time I visit California, which is actually rather frequently, I have to stop by. I can’t remember what it’s called, but there is one food place that serves New Orleans style food. BEST GUMBO EVER!!! And there Iced Tea with mint is to die for. I just love it.
I love this post, thank you

Looks like an absolutely magical day.
NPR actually just did a piece on farmer’s markets and gave your local a nod for being one of the first that started the whole movement! very cool.
