L.A. Street Food Fest

Though I kind of detest the term, I certainly consider myself a “foodie.” I relish in all things food-related, but I think there’s typically a level of prestige and snobbery associated with the term with which I disagree. I have no problem eating from a truck (as seen here and here), so naturally when I found out there would be 100 of them in one place at the L.A. Street Food Festival, I bought tickets immediately. Though it looks like I only visited the dessert carts, I assure you that I also consumed some actual food, all of which was phenomenal.

mmmm that cookies and cream ice cream bar looks so good!
That all looks delicious, especially the cookies’n’ cream ice cream bar!
I am totally in agreement about the snobbery associated with the term – some of the best food I have found has been out of a small local cafe without a reputation.
Love the post

Omg! I want to taste it all)))
I’m immediately getting hungry and jelouse
My family and I are big on food too, this festival sounds like a lot of fun!
Street food is the best. A foodie can certainly remain one even if she eats street food! I’ve dragged my friends to random restaurants in the middle of nowhere all in the name of food and I’d do it for good street food too!
Love the glasses and the hat gorgeous. It looks like a lovely festival
with lots of delicious food. I’m jealous!

As a fellow sweet tooth, I would also love a post on your exercise routine/what you do to compensate for those oh-so-necessary splurges. Do ittttt.

OMG yum!! I have never seen sweet potato fries with peanut butter and chocolate! What an odd combo lol. I’m totally a foodie too as I love all things food, but I agree it can have a bit of a snob stigma attached to it. I appreciate ALL food in it’s own way, not just expensive fancy stuff (I can’t afford that stuff anyway!)
oh.my.god. those pictures are absolutely mouth-watering. sweet potato fries with peanut butter and chocolate??? it all looks so delicious! and here i was thinking NYC had the best street food – clearly LA could give it a run for its money. lovely photos!
That is the perfect size for an ice cream cone!
best festival idea everrrrr! i want those sweet potato fries
http://www.indramaticfashion.com
Mm, I’m hungry now!
Both the fries and the cookies ‘n creme bar look heavenly! We only have snobby fancy restaurant festivals where I am.
Food from a truck/hole in the wall restaurant is the best!!

OK. The foods you posted here could not be more enticing. Those fries and the donuts look incredible! I’d really like for those trucks to drive east and park in my town for a bit, though my ass and thighs might disagree.
Chocolate dipped cones=heaven.
Emily, you are too cute for words and all of this food looks insanely delicious…great post (per usual)!

Girl you ate well! Thanks for sharing : )
I am so sad that food trucks are hard to come by on the East Coast ! Looks simply delicious, and like you had a blast! I’d never thought of sweet potato fries for a sweet dish before, but now simply must try them (maybe for when I open my own cart??)
Becca
This food looks so delicious!

Looks delicious! I’d be in heaven haha.
http://behindthelashes.com
Looks so delicious and fun! The chocolate dipped ice cream cone looks like a baby- like you can eat it in two or three bites-so cute. And the sweet potato fries look delicious, as sweet potato fries usually do- but I never thought of adding peanut butter and chocolate to the ensemble! Definitely going to have to try it. I love food festivals in the summertime- especially dressing up for them! There’s a bit of fun in the process and I always end up dressing so that my outfit goes perfectly along with the festival environment!
They’re having something similar this week in Atlanta. Everything looks so delectable!
All of this looks incredible! I love shaved ice in the summertime! xo

Mmm that looks great! Awesome way to spend an afternoon.
sweet potatoes fries kick normal fries tooshie. and with chocolate and peanut butter … um!??!
All that food looks so good! Austin has been completely taken over by “restaurants on wheels” but I am not complaining! We have a place called The Trailer Park Eatery that is a parking lot full of them with huge picnic areas to sit eat. My favorite truck around town is the crepes, yumm!
That tiny little ice cream cone is adorable!

I am so hungry now! I sure wish we had something like this in our town!!!
Wow! It looks like it was a fantastic time-and now I’m starving and need to raid my fridge. I know what you mean about the term Foodie, it sounds snobby, but it just means we love all things food related! I’ve never had sweet potatoes fries with peanut butter and chocolate before, how was that? All great flavors, I’m sure they worked great together!

My ex-bf actually thought I was “too classy” to eat corn dogs. I was like, ummm, who DOESN’T love corn dogs?!?
wow, everything looks delicious! I like how you don’t deprive of anything, you really seem to enjoy food!
Yummi… you made my feel so hungry at the moment.
That food looks so delicious.:)SarahD
Looks like you guys had so much fun. We have something very similar in Chicago every year. It is so crowded you can barely move through the hordes of people. So I don’t go often, but it looks like your food was sooooo yummy!
xo Jen
Those fries (and I’m talking both varieties) look so delicious! Talk about a diet breaker. Street food is always so fun, gourmet flavor at a cheap cheap price…yum.
And you stay so chic and slim how exactly?
I too, consider myself a foodie. I’ve always ascribed the snobbery to the term, “gourmet.” I think of foodies as more down to earth and into good eats no matter the presentation (though we do enjoy nice presentation). Hopefully that makes you feel better about calling yourself a foodie.
Wonderful food shots!
How can you possibly eat all those junk food (don’t get me wrong, I LOVE junk food) and look as good as you do???? WOW!!!! Wish I had your genes, haha.
WOW!!! That is quite the feast!
Velvet Cupcakes
It all looks great!
what a great idea! i’m sitting at my desk and feeling quite hungry now. i must ask where you got that fabulous ring you’re wearing in the photos. i love that it’s so delicate.
Sounds like so much fun!
Yum, it all looks so delicious!

YUMMMmmmm I just woke up but I’m already dying for a chocolate dipped ice cream cone or rainbow shaved ice :/ All looks so divine but I’m a bit skeptical of the sweet potato fries with chocolate and peanut butter? I’m going to need to try that first!
Sweet potato fries with pb and chocolate? That sounds insanely delicious. Hello new comfort food.
That looks sooo tasty! love your outfit too :d

This looks amazing! I want to go to a food festival!
mmmm. Baltimore needs a food festival, like ASAP! and i’m a total foodie who loves street food. i think those who can’t get down with good food from a truck are just snobbies.
That choco-dipped Ice Cream would hit the spot right about now!
XX.
Mae Lu, thereafterish.
oh my word. how did i not know about this. i love street food so so much. this looks incredible!
Yum! It was so fun to be with you guys and I’m definitely thinking we should spring for the VIP tickets next year. And I’m so glad we did dessert first.
Everything looks delicious! But how can you eat all that and stay beautiful! Tell me your secret!
And I think that St. Paul needs a festival of food!
Here in Brazil the best hot dogs are the trucks!
And I had never heard of foodie term … but I guess I’m a foodie too!

btw- nothing wrong with sticking mainly to the dessert carts!!
um. YUM! *drool*
Looks so yummy! Especially the chocolate dipped ice cream. Perfect for hot summer day.
looks super tasty!
http://petalsandpartydresses.wordpress.com/
Totally agree on the “foodie” term. I cringe when people call me that. I think of snobby people who like really complicated food. It seriously has a bad connotation. A new word needs to be made for us people who just like to eat. Perhaps “eaters”. “I’m an eater….” Thoughts?
Such yummy looking food. Food festivals are the most fun a hungry person can have.
Amazing–looks so delicious! I absolutly love sweet potato fries too!
Check out these cute children’s dresses I highlighted today! There’s even a how-to video on making your own Tutu! So sweet!

omg that looks fabulous. i love sweets. i think i’m a sweets foodie.
You’re just like the Gilmore girls: eating all that yet looking like that!
I like the fact that you seem to have a healthy attitude towards food. And you enjoy it. You don’t talk about having to go burn it off immediately, or feel guilt. That’s my kinda thinking. All these treats look delicious!
omg yummm! so jeal, wish jersey was that cool
that all looks like insane yumminess!
Ok girl, tell us all how you eat that and all the other delicious things you make and stay looking the way you want do!! Those sweet potato fries look DELISH!!

how the heck do you not put on weight!!
We need Smellvision so that we can get the aromas through the computer screen!!!!
We were there (in the vendor/dessert area) and I actually thought to myself, “This seems like something Emily would attend.” Sorry to have missed you!
omg. donuts. donuts are everywhere. it’s time to fulfill the craving.
Yum! I want your chocolate dipped ice cream cone!
A foodie who does not eat street food is like a fashionista who doesn’t shop at Forever 21. High and low go together!
you are my kind of girl
this is the type of event that makes my heart beat faster!
This looks like SO MUCH fun! I must find something like this near me… That little ice cream cone is too cute, and that cookies ‘n’ cream ice cream bar looks crazy-good.

I wish they have those kind of street food fest here. Love the ice cream bar!
I so agree, it’s the same thing with fashion! Why must people always be such snobs
Mmm all the food looks so delish – does the ticket get you unlimited samples, or how does it work? That sweet fries with peanut butter sounds so strange, but I bet it tasted amazing!
[...] I’m very excited to catch up on the last two episodes of Top Chef DC tonight. (I’ve delayed this post for too long today- I’m watching Top Chef from 7/21 right now and !! they are doing in the elimination challenge at Andrew Mellon. Anyway, I’m on the hunt for a top chef, as well, or top restaurant and caterer.) I’m obsessed with food and the author of my favorite blog in the whole world, Cupcakes and Cashmere, took the words out of my mouth when she described herself as a foodie and expressed disapproval for the elitism that goes along with it…”Though I kind of detest the term, I certainly consider myself a “foodie.” I reli… Yep. Ditto. [...]
Emily, I always look forward to checking your blog. I really want to know what color nail polish you are wearing in the chocolate dipped ice cream cone picture. Love it! I tried the Essie “Vermillionaire” this past weekend and decided it was too orange for me, but maybe not… Thanks!
