Irresistible Chocolate Chip Cookies

July 20th, 2011

I have an entire section dedicated to cookies I’ve baked for my blog, but I’ve never featured one of my absolute favorites: classic chocolate chip. For years I tried different recipes, hoping to find the ideal version – with a light crispness on the outside, a chewy middle, laced with just enough chocolate.  I’ve had the best luck with this recipe  – with only a couple minor modifications (I use Valrhona chocolate disks that I chop into pieces and sprinkle on some Maldon sea salt at the end for a slightly salty finish). The results are everything you’d hope for in a cookie and make for an easy dessert to whip up for any type of summer soiree.

The cookies look YUM! Oh and that beautiful glass of milk draws my attention. I was wondering where did you get that beautiful glass?:)

Even though the chocolate chip cookie is probably the most basic and popular one out there, I find that they are difficult to perfect. But, the way you described the kind you like, ‘with a light crispness on the outside, a chewy middle, laced with just enough chocolate’, must be the result of these – pure perfection. I’m definitely trying this recipe soon! Maybe a vegan version? :)

Wow those look fantastic, wish I had your knack for baking out such nicely rounded crinkly-topped cookies. How does one do that exactly?? Mine always come out rather globular…
    P.S. love your blog :)

Emily!!! Why do you tease me with scrumptious things I should not be looking at! Curse you and your photos that always make everything look so tasty…

Tried this recipe over the weekend and its amazing! I’ve never seen such a light and fluffy cookie dough before! The sea salt sets it over the top and my boyfriend (who’s mom is a chef) gave me the seal of approval. Great recipe for beginners like myself!

I love chocolate chip cookies with a bit of salt! My friends think I’m crazy. Martha Stewart has a great recipe of crispy on the edges, chewy on the inside cookies too.

Baked these last night and they are absolutely the b-e-s-t chocolate cookies of all time. Seeing as this is my favorite dessert, I should know! ;) Thank you for the recipe and for the sea salt idea! Love your blog Emily!

Oh my God, now you’ve done it! Got to go and buy the ingredients asap. Living in Norway, they don’t know how to do choc chip cookies right – they’re always dried out and hard. I love them chewy and soft. Thanks for an inspiring blog!

I loved your vintage straw! Paper straws are the best! During my last trip to Disney I went to Animal Kingsom and discovered these beauties except they were just plain. Thanks to Ebay I just got some pink and yellow striped ones!!
