Ice Cream Sandwich Truck
When I was a kid, there was no sweeter sound than the melodic chime of an ice cream truck. Even though I always got the same thing (a Drumstick), I loved the process of checking out all of the different icy treats to finally settle on my usual. A new truck has rolled into town, but this one requires some serious thought. You get to choose the kind of cookie and the all-natural ice cream that will be sandwiched in between for a completely customizable treat. I chased down the Coolhaus truck on a sunny afternoon this week and I already know that I’ll be scheduling another rendezvous in the very near future.

I passed by them last night at artwalk but was already super full from the Kogi truck.

During my childhood I lived in the West Indies. The icecream truck was quite popular there back then. I recall to memory gorging on icecream cake with my sister on Sundays ( The icecream truck was a Sunday treat).

Your food posts always make my mouth water – this one is no exception! Now I’m craving ice cream. Have you ever been to Golden Spoon? It’s my current obsession. It’s frozen yogurt, not ice cream, so I at least feel like I’m being a little healthier when I eat there (which is about 5 nights a week at the moment). Their sugar-free pecan praline is AMAZING. Seriously, don’t let the “sugar-free” label fool you, it’s goooood.
My friend had this ice cream truck show up at the end of her birthday party… was such a good idea. The paper they hand it to you with is rice paper too, so its edible! so eco chic

yum! ice cream was totally one of those things that was so so difficult to give up when i went vegan. luckily, stogo in nyc’s east village makes amazing vegan ice creams and chocolates. i’m a humungo fan of their mint chocolate chip flavor (and you can even sandwich them between some of their vegan chocolate chip cookies or something…they sell babycakes). if any of you ever wanna try it out it’s on 10th street and 2nd ave and fully worth the trip!
