Hostess with the Mostest
Finding the right hostess gift can be a challenge, but it’s a dignified way of showing gratitude. I recently entertained a guest who was less than gracious during her (five day) stay and while a gift wasn’t necessary, it certainly would have set a different tone. You don’t need to spend a lot to show your appreciation, but here are some of my favorite hostess gifts that make a big impact.
1. Candlestick Vase - $42
2. Silverware Dishtowel - $38
3. Overdue Notebook - $24
4. Capri Blue Candle - $25
5. Juice Glasses - $32
6. Exotic Chocolate Bars - $7.50

That’s a great idea.. I’ll take the candle and the chocolate with a good book anyday!

Lovely gift ideas, I especially like the pretty glasses.
Funny, I bought one of Mo’s Bacon Bars yesterday! And the Gianduja chocolate bar, too. So rich!
Those juice glasses are so pretty (and I love how they’re not just any glasses, they’re JUICE glasses. Cute).
Speaking of fancy chocolate, yesterday I was at L’Artisan Du Chocolat (do you have that shop? Maybe they sell online?) and bought some great gift bars: Almond milk dairy-free choc, matcha white choc, gingerbread spiced choc, and violet dark choc. Now I just have to resist eating them all myself.
Couldn’t agree more, Emily. And those juice glasses are unexpectedly stunning. Who knew? Xx
the capri blue candles are my absolute fave.
love that candle.

oh, that candlestick vase is fantastic! but i think its too late to put it on my xmas list
I always love buying hostess gifts. . .they’re often the little treats that I’d buy for myself if I could indulge!
Yikes, sorry to hear about your ungrateful guest. I totally agree that hostess gifts can be tough to select, but love you picks. You’ve covered all the bases!
Love the juice glasses and sorry about the bad guest! xoxo

The Vogue Chocolate store in Soho, is ah-mazing.
There spicy Mexican hot chocolate is perfect for the chilly winter
good ones!
whoa, does the guest read your blog?! lol. i hope she has learned her lesson.
Love those juice glasses! They’d be great for summer.

finally tried the mo’s bacon bar - very interesting! would make a great hostess gift as would those great dishtowel - i love giving tea towels as gifts! (or better yet receiving
The juice glasses are so pretty. And who wouldn’t love a candle?
Such good finds! Love that notebook.
Boo to less than gracious guests! That silver ware dish towel is charming though and would ease some of the pain of a imperfect guest.
I’m in love with those pink glasses. i want glasses like that for wine instead of the standard wine glass. I’m a strict vegetarian but I am so curious about that chocolate and bacon bar, is that actually good?!
Ugh…that is the worst!! You’re right, it’s so easy to show your appreciation. The littlest gestures can go the longest way.
PS I keep meaning to switch back to The Lil Bee… auto fill has me as Feather… not that it matters, I suppose
Anyway, happy holidays, Em! xx
I bought the chocolate bar for my husband. He loves both bacon and chocolate so let’s hope it goes well. I was able to find it at FredFlare.com for $9 and free shipping.
I am in total agreement with you about hostess gifts. And you’ve come up with such unique ideas. Thanks!
XO Piper

that overdue notebook is sooo cute!
also an ungrateful houseguest for a 5 day stay? … maybe you should send her a bill!
seriously, all it takes is some dessert, flowers, picking up after yourself, and showing some initiative to help. any couch surfer knows that
i love the bacon bar and can’t wait to try the other ones!
My favorite hostess gifts are Mudlark candles and herb plants (like rosemary), if the host/hostess likes to cook
You can also never go wrong with wine!
Oh gosh. I’ve seen those bacon chocolate bars around, but I don’t know if they would necessarily be a good gift. Not everyone likes pork in their dessert…
I love your picks and it is amazing how strongly thoughtfulness can impact you.
yikes! 5 days is a loonng time to have to entertain someone especially if they aren’t appreciative!
I totally agree…we’re at the age where you really should be bringing hostess gifts if someone lets you stay with them.
All your suggestions are great, but when I went to NY and stayed with a friend for a few days I brought her a few extra large San Francisco vintage inspired post cards that would look cute hung up on a wall. Grand Total: $3 and she totally appreciated it.

wow great picks!! I love those glasses I have some similar vintage ones in an amber color that I adore.
Anything candle-related is always welcome. Or a tea set.

i’m dying over the silverware dishtowel!

oh dear. i hope the guest reads your blog! i’d be happy to get anything on your list, esp. the vosges, made in my former hometown of chicago
Those are great ideas!
Iam spending a week at my friends place in Whistler B.C and I have NO idea what to get for a hostess gift… Hes a 22 year old guy which makes it a little tricky…
Does anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks
Aren’t you afraid that your guest will read this and get offended? I actually feel quite sad for her right now. I hope the next place I stay at doesn’t think about me like that after I leave.
The Overdue Notebook is one of the cutest things I have ever seen! Such adorable pieces here, Emily!!
We will confirm that you make very supreme information relating with this good post. You should finish the doctoral thesis for thesis writing services or just make our own dissertation writing services and good people will buy your dissertation in that location.
These are all great selections. The overdue notebook caught my eye recently and I’ve always been tempted to try the Vosges bacon candy bar.
Love the glasses! I feel u on the guest issue. I always welcome guests in our small condo but have yet to ever receive a hostess gift.
Hi there.. I totally understand about less than gracious house guests.. it really doesn’t take much to show that you appreciate someone having you stay in their house… even buying/making dinner a couple of times goes a long way to showing your appreciation
I recently just got the Capri Blue Glass Candle from my best friend. It is just lovely, I must say. Quite the most pleasant scent. And I agree, a little appreciation goes a long way. Happy Holidays to you!
I am loving those juice glasses so much, I may just have to gift them to myself after the holidays!
Great Ideas!

Love the anthropologie glasses! I gave them as a birthday present years ago - they have a wonderful vintage feel to them.
Hostess gifts are a must! Or, you could at least take your hosts out to a fancy dinner and pick up the tab. But something must be done.
