Homemade Twix Bars

November 3rd, 2010

One of the main, if not most obvious, reasons why I love Halloween is the influx of candy.  For the month of October, everywhere you go there are bowls filled with sugary treats that serve as a constant reminder of my favorite holiday.   I had a Twix for the first time in what must have been years and to my surprise, I was really disappointed.  I found the chocolate to be bland and the caramel mediocre, so I decided to make a batch myself (recipe here).  It was almost like making three desserts in one (between the shortbread, the caramel and the chocolate), but the killer combination proved to be just as good as I had hoped.

Dear Emily, thanks for this amazing tip! I’ve tried the recipe and, after a few adaptations, ’cause in Brazil we can’t find some ingredients that easily, it tastes incredible! It made my holliday so much better! :)

  • Seriously

I cannot believe all these people are commenting your genius, creativity, and mind-blowing thinking in creating these and you don’t feel the need to comment back or edit your post a little more clearly to indicate that some other genius person actual created this recipe and you merely took some pretty photos of yourself baking. Just saying.

Oh my, I so want one (or a lot) of these. Since I don’t cook at all, I don’t know what I’m going to do, but that’s ok, right? (:

I haven’t eaten Twix in like 2 years because the American version is really quite disappointing. The European version however is excellent! (Try it if you get a chance) Twix is one of my favourite chocolates, and I was really disappointed when I moved the US and tasted it. It’s very different (so is Kit-Kat by the way). Anyway, thanks for this recipe. I will definitely be trying it.
