Hog Island Oyster Co.

October 12th, 2011

This past Saturday afternoon we drove out to Marshall to go to Hog Island Oyster Co. It’s a tiny town that borders Tomales Bay with plenty of local seafood spots scattered along the windy road. I only recently started eating raw oysters – but now love their briny taste, especially with a little hot sauce and mignonette. We sat at picnic tables, shucked oysters (6 dozen, to be exact) and drank champagne, before heading back home. It was one of those idyllic days that I only seem to be able to find when back in Northern California.

Looks fun! Do all the oysters they serve have to be shucked? I’m lazy when it comes to seafood. I just want to eat the oysters, not work for them :x

Sounds like such a relaxing day…I’m not sure I could get myself to eat raw oysters but I could definitely go for some champagne!

Ugh! I totally can’t stand oysters-it’s a texture thing. However the drive in California, the quant little town, and the champagne would make up for it. I love how casual you look in just jeans and a tee

I haven’t developed that kind of love for oysters – so many places in SF will have lines out the door, but I can’t get myself to like them!

What a great, relaxing day!!! My philosophy is to try everything once and then judge, but oysters kinda scare the crap out of me – probably something about the texture – but you make them sound so good!

Relating to your last picture on this post, I love the bracelets that you wore together. The chunky white one is adorable and looks great surrounded by the gold. Stacked bracelets always look great on a thin wrist and add so much to an outfit.

Oh! As pretty as your pictures are, I don’t think they’ll convert me to an Oyster fan. Although North California looks stunning! What do I need to do to convince the hubby to have our honeymoon there!?

Once my friend and I went out to eat and he ordered a huge bowl of oysters. Of course he couldn’t finish them all so he proceeded to put the entire glass bowl filled with the leftover oysters into his backpack. Unfortunately we were sitting outside in front of several very large windows, through which everyone in the restaurant could see us… I had to convince him to get a doggy bag.
