High on the leg, low on the promiscuity

It’s rare to find a pair of boots that hit above the knee without looking trashy. To avoid channeling Vivian Ward, the heel must be minimal and in a fabric that doesn’t make high squeaking noises when you walk. That is why when I spotted the flat, gray suede boots on a recent episode of Gossip Girl, I was beyond thrilled. Though articles of clothing featured on the show usually amount to a normal high schooler’s annual pay, Eric Damon, the stylist behind Gossip Girl’s incredible wardrobes, got it right with the Strate boot from Chinese Laundry for $99. As seen worn by Serena, they are perfect for wearing with a skirt or dress, but are also wide enough so you can tuck in your favorite pair of skinny jeans.
