Half Up, All Wrong

Some people are naturally adept at styling hair.

I am not one of them.

From an early age, I was very particular about how I wore my hair, and insisted that my mom recreate the same look for nearly seven years [see above for the beginning of what I call the 'whale spout' phase]. To this day, I’m still limited in my options, usually relying on a messy ponytail or dreadlock-like waves.  Since I’m still partial to the half-up, half-down look however, this Braid Leather Hair Stick will work perfectly.  I love the natural feel of the slightly worn leather and think that even I can manage to maneuver the wooden stick into a somewhat acceptable style.

haha i am so bad at doing things with my hair…

haha this is adorable! i am guilty of the same; im extremely low maintenance with my hair i dont even bother to blow dry or straighten, i just let it air dry into beachy waves. but hey, whatever works right?

I think our moms probably hated both of us as children. I used to have a meltdown if my mom couldn’t get every single tiny bump out of my ponytail. Looks like you took a more relaxed approach, but I’m sure you were just as stubborn.

Such a cute photo! I know exactly what you mean about hair styling. I’m fairly inept myself and like to just think my hair looks fine just letting it air dry… it’s boho, right?

I remember this look well…you totally pulled it off.

So freakin’ adorable!
That hair stick works wonders, even for fine hair like mine. I definitely recommend it!

Do you have any good accessory recommendations for chin-length hair?

(I posted a contest…come see!)

That’s such a lovely pic of you as a baby. I too can be accused of a bad-hair lifestyle. Apart from a good haircut and occasional styling, I am a quen of ponytails.

Genius find – I want one given I’m from the school of don’t brush my hair since age 2!

You were such a cute kid! Adorable.

And the hair stick is really stylish. I think it will look perfect with your hair color.

hahaha, that is so cute. With just the title of the link on facebook I had to check it out:).

Me too! I never really knew how to do hairstyles and I always let it down or do a pony tail, very boring, but that’s all I know how to do well!

That would make for a very chic hairstyle. I was always very experimental with my hair I tried everything from tons of tiny twists all over my head, to ribbons with braids, even a few disasterous perms–my family was always surprised by how someone so low maintenence in the makeup, skin care, and other girlishnesss department could be so intrigued by strange hair styles.

that photo is adorable!
I love the leather slide, it would be a nice alternative to the braid-headband thing that so many people have going on this summer

aww you’re so cute! i also was a whale spout girl and i must say its one of the cutest looks a girl can go – a young girl that is.
anyway, i am very particular with my hair and either keep it down or a clip – that’s it. unless i’m going to work out or something – but that’s a rare occasion.

so cute! I have no talent at doing hair either.

24 Gypsy Soul { 06.24.08 at 2:20 pm }

LUV it! such a pretty little girl =)

i used to have one of those leather/stick contraptions, but unfortunately for me, almost anything ends up sliding out of my hair within the first hour. the only way i can even keep a ponytail up when i run is to rig it with a hat!

ohhh to be young again!!!

25 Always In Style { 06.24.08 at 2:21 pm }

This is hilarious! I’ve always had curly/frizzy hair and always have to take forever to style it….but I’ve never tried the “whale spout.” ;)
