Fried Chicken

For the most part, the chicken we prepare around here is grilled or baked, but every once in a while, it’s fun to change things up a bit. Last weekend for a football-heavy Sunday, we made this recipe, which didn’t disappoint. The herbed oil added such a nice dimension and the chicken was tender with a crispy, crunchy skin. Sadly we can’t add this kind of dish to our weekly repertoire, but it’s nice to know there’s a fool-proof recipe out there for those slightly more indulgent meals.

First the “dignified” rice krispie treats, and now herbed fried chicken… love how you’ve elevated these comfort food staples! I wonder how this would work baked… splattering oil always makes me uneasy.

We did nachos for football Sunday; both nachos and football are rare in our house, but they made for quite a fun and enjoyable way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon!

Yanno, I’ve never really heard of herbed fried chicken, but once I read your post I realized why not! Great recipe, I love fried chicken and this seems like a nuanced idea for such a traditional snack during football games ;]

Do you have any tips for photographing while cooking Emily? I tried to do some this week but they were awful, steamy camera lens, flour all over the worktop…

Are the any tips you could offer to somebody new to blogging? Food is a real passion but I can’t imagine my awful photos would inspire anyone!

oh my goodness fried chicken is suddenly everywhere!! I badly wanted to make it after watching The Help..but decided it was a bad and addicting idea…and now I feel the urge to fry up some chicken while rocking out to my favorite song All This Time by The Heartless Bastards

This chicken looks delectable! I’ll have to try this next time we have a football (soccer?) weekend at our house. This reminded me of your home made onion rings! I tried them back when you first posted the recipe and my boyfriend thought I was a genius.

Maybe it’s the way they were photographed, but the fried chicken looks like it has a slightly grayish tinge and it looks uber mushy. True fried chicken should be a warm golden brown and with breading that looks like it should just snap off while still maintaining the tender juiciness inside. This looks cold and like it would make you sick.
