I tend to get hungry at the most inopportune times and typically keep a stash of granola bars in my purse for a quick fix. They aren't exactly a low calorie food, but the combination of nuts, fruits, and grains is a better option than my preferred snack (i.e. candy). When I came across this recipe I decided to try it out, adding in some flax seed meal and a chocolate drizzle (see candy reference above), and the results were great. Another bonus, I purchased the ingredients for this batch in the bulk food section of the market, with a total cost of less than $3.00 - about the same cost of one prepackaged bar.
