florals-with-astroturf.jpg

Despite the fact that most of the country is braving horrendously cold temperatures, I can’t help but fantasize over the influx of floral prints I’ve seen on countless celebrities.  Flowers add such a feminine element, and when paired with a leather jacket (a la Nicole Richie) or a slouchy bag (like Jessica Biel), it makes for the ideal combination.  So, if the cold is forcing you to pair a dress like this with tights and a beanie or it’s warm enough to let this top poke out from under a thin cardigan, it’s an easy way to add a sweet touch of Spring in the middle of January.

I love florals with a nice knit and beanie hat and some chunky boots!

I remember that SJP dress! Off the rack of her Bitten line, if memory serves. Have you heard if it’s found a new home, now that Steve and Barry’s is kaput?

P.S. Of course, Hong Kong is having the exact opposite problem of the US – unseasonable heat. I’ve been jacket-less all week. It’s kind of nice, but I’m already missing scarves!

P.P.S. Any idea what Jen Garner’s dress is?

OOh what beautiful dresses – great collage. I didn’t realise how popular floral prints are at the moment. SJP’s is great -the MOST striking.. beautiful. Great post (as usual!) :-)

The Anthropologie top you linked to is gorgeous…however, your first link just takes readers to the Topshop homepage.

I do love florals, but am still getting used to thinking of them as modern and chic … this is a great reminder that they needn’t be the domain of schoolgirls and old ladies!

I do love florals, if they are done right. They can still look like your grandmother’s curtains.

i’m not a fan of sarah jessica’s ensemble, but i love nicole richie’s and – although i’m not really proud to say it – hillary duff’s. i lovelovelove the idea of mixing something as feminine as floral prints with something like leather & chains. it looks so unpredictable and balanced.

I really like to pair girlie floral with a plain sweater or jacket to create that sharp contrast.

LOVING florals lately, especially the way Nicole Richie wears them…but then I tend to love everything she wears.

I’m super picky though and haven’t seen any I love in the stores for a good price, so maybe a trip to the fabric store and a session with the ol’ sewing machine is in order!

Florals are so sweet, but I think I’m not sweet enough. I could totally do SJPs graphic floral print dress, though. Right up my alley.
