Flat Footed
In my book, flat sandals always get a bad reputation. They’re usually boring, uncomfortable and terribly unflattering. Regardless, I’ve decided to give them a second chance since there are times when you just can’t be propped up on 4 inch heels for an extended period of time. Here are just a few of this summer’s crop that have caught my attention.
Outdoor Concert: Steve Madden $149.95
City Shopping: Old Navy $19.50
Wine Tasting: Topshop $55
Daytime Picnic: Topshop $32
Family Dinner: Emma Pink $75
Sunday Brunch: Mystique $140
Do you have a favorite pair?

I like these shoes. They look at a very convenient!
I was in Europe and UK recently and noticed almost every girl having a pair of pretty flat sandals on their feet. So I got myself a pair as well:)
oh yum!! Sher has it spot on, British girls love their flats…its because we walk a lot and are on and off public transport all the time…heels just don’t work!! i couldn’t function without pretty flats, and these are some of the prettiest i have seen
b x.
I wouldn’t be able to ride my bike without my flats (dutch, right!), I think I love the first three the most; especially the red ones. love it.
Sher is right, here is right. Here in Europe flat sandals are really popular. I just bought the most fantastic pair of lilac suede gladiators by Acne. On sale!
I love the red ones!
I’m loving those Steve Madden babies ♥
loving the emma pink pair
love them! they are a must have for me to wear daily- esp. for a mom with small kids! I save my heels for work or date night
I used to agree with you on flat sandals - especially with me being only 5′4″ - but this summer I’ve changed my mind. I love wearing my flat sandals, especially with an especially flattering pair of skinny jeans!
And I have 2 favorite pairs - one grecian-inspired yellow suede pair from Gap & the other, a fabulous gold & coral beaded pair from Target! They’re both perfection & really create a fabulous ensemble ; - )
I agree. There is something very unsexy and unflattering about them, but you’re right you can’t always wear the wedges. I have a pair that I got on major discount from Ann Taylor Loft last summer. They are actually the perfect pair! Out of all of these I think city shopping, wine tasting, and sunday brunch are my favorites.
it is true that they get a bad rap… and sometimes (I know for me) I just don’t feel as good in them - total high-heel brain washing if you ask me! But they do have a certain feminine feel to them - maybe they are a bit demure… I can’t put my finger on it.
Flats are usually the way I go in the summer…I have a low tolerance for foot pain & in high heels I become a whiny mess! I am a big fan of the topshops and the old navy…I love how specific you made each pair, so thoughtful!! Like I would EVER wear the wine tasting pair to Sunday brunch! lolol
Love the red and ON ones! The Steve Madden flats are ridiculously overpriced, imo. It looks like they’ve been continually increasing their prices eek…not a good economic move, SM.
I really like the daytime picnic sandals! Saw it at Topshop and it was GORGEOUS!! <3 The wine tasting one looks really pretty as well and it’s available in a royal blue colour too.
Hope your next encounter with flats go well and I have a feeling they will because you look stunning no matter what you wear.
I love those Emma Pink shoes!
Oh so cute, lucky for me I heart the “city shopping” Old Navy pair best, yay for wallet friendly. Great shoe choices!
City shopping and wine tasting are so cute! I can’t believe the city shopping one is old navy- what a find!
The Old Navy pair is OK … but I’m still not sold. I’ve been eyeing a pair of flat gladiators for a while now, but am convinced they’ll be so unflattering they’ll never get worn!
I have a pair of Steve Madden super flats with a chain-link across the toes, I love them to pieces and should probably buy them is every color.
Daytime Picnic and Family Dinner! I have foot issues so flats are my only option—and really, with all the cute ones out there that’s not such a bad thing! Though sometimes I wish I could rock those bad-ass platforms like you do, my dear!
These are all so cute! I’m usualy not a flat shoe type of gal but they are a necessity. Sometimes heels just don’t look right or aren’t appropriate.
Love the Emma Pinks! I used to always wear heels, exclusively, because I’m pretty short. But then I bought some flat boots and loved them… and gradually I started wearing more flat sandals, too. I have a pair from Lilly Pulitzer of all places (I am SO not a Lilly girl!) and they’re my favorite. They’re just plain gold thongs, but they’re durable and look great with everything. I also have a pair of grommet-holed brown Michael Kors flips that are in heavy rotation.
the yellow sunday brunch ones are too cute for words!
oh boy!
i re-discovered my love for flats these past two weeks in the city!
they are a must.
i saw those topshop sandals in electric blue and definitely wish i would of purchased them…. i loved them.
xoxoxox
New to the blog world so I’m always hesitant on commenting blogs I’ve just stumbled across…hope you don’t mind
Outdoor Concert, Wine Tasting and Family Dinner would be on my heavy rotation! Super cute!
With 2 toddlers to chase after I live in flat sandals along with wedges for more festive daytime events. Right now I’m totally hearting these Frye sandals I bought recently:

the ones for wine tasting are my favs
yay! thank you! my favorites are the family dinner and wine tasting ones!
I’m actually a huge fan of the “family dinner” sandals. However, I’ve been falling in love with this style in-between flat sandals and high heels. I just bought some adorable sandals with a small wedge, and I love that they have a little bit of everything.
Love them Emma Pinks! I wear flat shoes almost exclusively in the summer. For some reason hot weather makes me not like them. The rest of the year though, it’s heels for me. I look like a giant but I don’t care. I have found quite a few cute pairs at Urban lately. Just scooped up a gold pair the other day that I love.
I can’t live without flats!
Liking the Emma Pink shoes. Look so cozy.
City Shopping caught my eye. Or maybe it was the word “Shopping.” My friend bought a similar pair at Marshall’s that is too pretty for words.
family dinner, definitely! very cute.
All gorgeous, and so practical. I couldn’t live in heels daily.
I love the colors on these and how they’re labeled with places to where them.
Love the blue strappy one! I have more flats than heels.
LOVE flat sandals. family dinner was my first fave, followed by wine tasting (what does that say about me…?). seriously impressed by the ON sandal too, that’s the first cute pair ive seen from them this season i think!
Love your selections and categorization, E! So SPOT ON! I am digging the wine tasting pair… or maybe I just want some Cabernet??
xoxox,
CC
mine are a pair of chinese laundry gem sandals! totally obsessed with them…i have them in 3 colors!
I think that Wine Tasting and Sunday Brunch are my faves. Great finds!
I love city shopping, wine tasting and Sunday brunch! and I mean that in every way!
The wine tasting pair is so cute! I wish I could wear heals everyday, but I would get some really weird stares where I live, so I own quite a few pairs of sandals like these. J. Crew and Dolce Vita also have some great pairs!
the wine tasting one (topshop) is my favorite, but I love flat sandals. They are super comfortable and can be extremely cute
As you know, I can’t really wear heels (though I AM wearing m Louboutins in todays post and OW never again!) so I have a TON of flat sandals. Like…maybe 20 pairs or more? I should count lol. Anyway, great pics, love the red ones for wine tasting.
Very cute descriptions.

i’m a big fan of flat sandals, i live in them all summer and they surprisingly go with everything, you should give it a try
I love the wine tasting ones…but I think I might be with CC and just need a glass of vino asap.
I am sooo trying to embrace the flat sandals! You’re inspiring me…as a shorty I stick with heels and wedges but it’s just so uncomfortable sometimes! xo
probably daytime picnic…although so far this summer i’ve been living in my $7.50 charcoal gray flip-flop wedges from Old Navy. love them.
The Steve Madden and red Topshop darlings are fabulous! Makes me want to go out and add to my collection.
I was actually kind of excited when flat gladiator sandals came into style! I have what I think are oddly shaped feet, and strap-free flip flops and what not always seem to fly off my feet. But somehow I still never ended up utilizing the trend! This post might just make me cave though. Those little Emma Pink ones are so darling!
i want every single pair!
I tend to go for gladiator sandals. Sam Edelman makes the best. I live in mine. And his flats are incredibly comfortable.
Love the concert flats. I have a pair of chunky vince camuto’s that I refer to as my woodstock shoes..perfect for concerts and so many men have complimented them! Also, mini mocks from jeffrey campbell are a fave concert shoe!
definetely keeping the steve madden´s

love the sunday brunch…adore anything sunshine yellow !!!
I’m totally with you on the flat thing. I just can’t do it!
i neeeeeeeeeed the orange….red?…orange? topshop ones.
I was just over to @ Closet Therapy. She was talking about flats also. I was saying I try not to wear them because I’m already flat footed and when I do, they make my feet look even wider. But I do like the ‘city shopping’ pair. I love metallic sandals. They are so easy to wear and go with EVERYthing.

I do!
A pair of yellow flats with two yellow sunburst-flowery things on the top of my foot- and for $12.99 at Payless! They were like your yellow purse, not usually what I would buy or practical in color, but they fit well and I find things to pair them with all the time!
OH- I found them! You can see them here-

I really really love this post! I seem to find my self walking a lot when I get dressed up, so I enjoy wearing a comfortable pair of flats. The “family dinner” ones you show here are my favorite. I bought a brown pair of embellished sandals and they are very versatile. Thanks for showing other ideas for flats.
ooh…my faves are City Shopping and Wine tasting…I’ve gotten so many new pairs of these flats this summer…I live in them!
