{Mid-week surprise for my husband – a cute card + tickets to see “The Book of Mormon”}

I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for the weekend. Tonight we’re staying in and making homemade pizza (with fresh sausage from here) and tomorrow morning we’re driving two hours east to go apple picking with friends. The beginning of this week was brutally hot (as in, triple digits), but now that it’s cooled down slightly, I’ve clearly started taking advantage of all fall-related activities. Have a great weekend!

{Upcoming project – painting this wonderfully shaped credenza I inherited from a friend}

{Finally got around to trying Eggslut for breakfast – so good}

{Testing out our new kitchen torch on some marshmallows – Rocco was mesmerized}

{A nod to Dia de Muertos on our back steps}

    Dearest, I covet your friends if that is the kind of thing you inherit from them. I have just the spot for it in my guest bedroom.

    I absolutely love your blog! I did kind of get a sick feeling when I saw the tickets to “The Book of Mormon” though. Perhaps you will enjoy it, but being a Mormon myself, I found the story line and the music very insulting.

    The musical pokes fun at our missionaries, who are young people that give up two years of their lives to serve and help people. My own brother will be putting his schooling on hold to leave on his mission in just a few months. I will miss him so much since I will only be able to contact him through letters for the most part. Again, maybe you will enjoy the musical, but it is very far from being even close to accurate. So I guess I just wanted to say, take it for what it’s worth. . .entertainment. :)

    Thanks, and sorry for my long comment. I think you are a beautiful person.

    The deformed foot in the corner of the blowtorch / marshmallow photo definitely took away my appetite.

    To think that a person with such dignity and class such as yourself would subject them-self to “entertainment” such as the “Book of Mormon” that is so far from the truth, is disappointing. This play is not only insulting, but supports the profane mockery of other’s religions. And with your attendance, this inadvertently shows that you support the idea as well. As another reader has mentioned, if this play was depicting the Jewish or Muslim religion and culture, there would be a substantial uproar of protests, and the play would cease to show. So why are we allowing this one? Why are we targeting the people of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints? And why are so many eager to lend their support by purchasing tickets? This play is so far from accurate and the information is presented by a biased, and offended individual. Please everyone, at least visit Mormon.org and straighten out your facts on this religion. Those of the LDS faith deserve just as much respect as the other religions in the world.

    people need to stop with their comments about the book of Mormons, everyone makes fun of something, someone, some place, etc for their own entertainment. if they find it degraded, tough luck, they’re only contributing to the play’s success. bad press is good press, as long as it keeps people talking.

    i however applaud you for going to see the play, as i myself will also be going in november. parker and stone are two very talented guys, who ae always ahead of the game with their ideas.

    I love that your husband did that! It inspired me to pick up a new sweater for my hubby. Unexpected gifts are so nice they show you were thinking of them!
