We arrived in Rome on Tuesday after an incredible wedding weekend (more details to come later!) and I’ve already fallen in love with the city. We’ve done our fair share of touristy stops, which we’ve balanced out with fantastic meals in tiny restaurants, tons of walking, and quite a bit of lounging at our hotel. It’s been a nice change of pace to not even have access to my phone and I can’t wait to explore the other cities on our itinerary.

lol, i’ve been to italy but not to rome yet.. you should go to cinque terre, an amazing place by the sea, and if you like being rough, you should try hiking through all the 5 villages..

I love your blog, but this is my first comment! We’re going to Rome in September. I’d love to know:
1) Fun, quirky, out-of-the-way places to shop. I can go to big name stores almost anywhere, but if you discovered some great little independent places I’d love to hear about them
2) How you dealt with cathedral dress code (if you went to many). I have one knee-length skirt and one knit jersey maxidress, as well as a pair of jeans and khakis, on the packing list. We’ll be in Rome for five days and I’m trying to decide whether or not to bring a second knee-length skirt. We’re headed for the UK after that, so it’s going to be much cooler and the skirts may not get more use.

I’m so jealous of you!! I was in Rome back in 2009 and loved every minute of it. There is a tiny restaurant/bar on the right side behind the Pantheon—I think it’s called Miscellenea and it’s owned by this Italian guy who played baseball in the US for college. It’s super great!

My absolute top places in Rome would be
1
L’Archetto spagetteria for their Chanel pasta (lobster +brandy + cream + garlic). Off. The. Charts. It’s on via del Archetto near the Trevi fountain.
2
San Clemente church (near the colosseum). You can actually go underground this church to see a 6th century church and Roman buildings.
