The first week after the new year always feels abrupt and cold. The holiday spirit dissipates so quickly – replaced by people’s need to return to their hurried and hectic lives. I’m attempting to savor the last bits of the season – slowly making my way through the last of homemade confections, admiring my new bracelets (my mom made me the gold cuff by melting jewelry that belonged to my grandparents), and spending time with friends over long meals.
