Five Things

February 25th, 2011

{Preparations for my little Oscar get-together on Sunday}

This week felt longer than usual, even though it was technically only four work days. We leave next Wednesday for Mardi Gras (I’m so excited) but until then, I have a lot to get done. In the meantime, I’m prepping for an Oscar viewing party at our place. I’m thinking: themed drinks, brightly colored lipstick as dress code, old school candies and truffled popcorn. Since I couldn’t care less about the Superbowl, this is the one television event that deserves adequate celebration. I’m mostly just excited the weekend’s here, but here are five other things currently making me happy.

{My grandmother’s bracelet that my mom just gave me}

{An old candle jar that now holds my Bare Escentuals make-up brushes}

{Color blocking (similar to these) at Zara}

{Breakfast pizza with eggs, bacon and arugula at 3 Square Cafe}

    That breakfast pizza looks delicious! Your grandmother’s bracelet is beautiful. I have a bracelet that my Grandma gave me and I love to wear it—it reminds me of her.

    I don’t know if you will get to read this before your trip to NOLA but I wanted to warn you to be safe, and carry very little cash and a small purse or better yet wallet on you at all times in a front pocket or in your shoe. I don’t know if you will plan to go out to Bourbon Street and walk around but be warned … I was there last weekend and Saturday night my purse was picked and I lost my wallet with cash and credit cards inside… thankfully I canceled the cards without issue but I lost a sizeable amount of cash by not playing it smart or safe! ENJOY YOUR TRIP – it’s a wonderful town but just play it safe. I can’t wait to hear about your journey!! ox

    FYI vintage mint julep cups are also great for holding makeup brushes!
