bronze goddess

{Estée Lauder’s stunning Bronze Goddess collection in popsicle pinks and corals}

This week was challenging, in a therapeutic way. I’m an anxious person by nature, so I stress about…nearly everything. To try and alleviate some of my nervous energy, I made two changes that actually ended up making a big difference. The first involved my inbox. I receive a lot of emails each day and try my best to get to a majority of them within 24 hours. But then there are those that go unanswered, for one reason or another, for a long time…like weeks. So my new rule is to clear my inbox at the end of each day. It’s made my mornings feel far less hectic since there aren’t always unfinished things rolling over. I’ve also started writing lists again before bed – I include anything and everything that’s on my mind. The lists are often pages long, filled with a few important things and a whole lot of trivial nonsense. But the goal is to simply get it on paper so that my sleep is more restful. So here’s to welcoming the weekend with a renewed sense of ease and gratitude.

Hey Emily, I would recommend yoga. I suffer from a really anxious mind as well- funny enough making lists just makes me a little nuttier, but if it works for you:) Reallllly like the birch lamp!

Have you ever thought about what life would be like with less anxiety? I know anxiety can be very energizing for some people, but it can also wear them out. Are there areas in your life that don’t produce anxiety or that aren’t affected by it?

It might be interesting for you to see a counselor and spend some time exploring these questions. Being a marriage and family therapist, I would recommend looking for someone licensed with MFT after their name.

You win at life. I can definitely relate to you about writing down lists before bed, it really does help. I hope your sleep will be more restful from now on!

  • gracekelle at leangirlsclub

I need to keep lists in order to stay organized…even if those lists are a bit disorganized themselves. At least the clutter and mess are out of my head!

I too am an anxious person and a born worrier. I find that lists help for me too. They just organise my mind so that when I go to bed instead of everything racing around it in mad panic it’s racing around in a more organised fashion. Btw, that cheese look fab! I just wanted to tell you that I love love love your blog. I have been coming here for quite some time now but never left a message. I thought it’s about time I let you know :) Just really love to feel your passion and love for life (not like some other blogs which are more obsessed looking certain way). I live in LA too and have been way to busy to try anything on my own, but now I plan to try harder this year. Wish you so much love and luck in your life!

Writing Pro’s and Con’s list helps me out too. Along with writing to do list for the day. It helps me think things through. The lamps are gorgeous. Maybe you could do an updated home tour again. =)

  • Esther’s Consignment

Terrific advice on sorting and answering emails! As a business, we’re going to slip that one in our back pockets… P.S. Love ALL the colors in that first photo – talk about gorgeous!

At times I wish I could turn my brain off because I think way too much. Writing lists helps me process my thoughts and clear my mind… nice to know I am not the only one out there who is like this : )

    Lovely blog btw.

I absolutely LOVE this post! I can definitely appreciate what you said about feeling anxious and how making lists actually help you feel better. It’s nice to hear someone else talk about this because I often (as well as many others, I’m sure) feel the same way. Thank you for opening up and sharing this with your readers! It’s a major help!

Coincidentally, I also do a weekly top 5! I’m a new blogger and would love any feedback! http://vastaspiration.blogspot.com/

I’ve made a routine of writing things down , I’m so forgetful and then I remember at the very last second so now it goes on a list so I know what to do .

I love that notepad! I just bought it and brought it to work. It reminded me of sorority days when all of life’s most burning questions were answered in the pro/con format. A little silly, but I still find it to be a great way to sort out both silly and serious decisions. Love it :)

I always love your ‘five things’ posts! And that pro and cons pad looks really cool, I could use one of those! :) x

I know this is a strange question, but what pen are you using in your Pro/Con List.. I have this obsession with stationary!
