heart nail polish

{I made little hearts using white nail polish + toothpicks}

There were good lessons to be learned this week. We had our fair share of disappointment – with some unfortunate house-hunting news (turns out, if you’re self-employed, it’s very difficult to get a loan) and a major business deal that fell through. I felt like curling up in a ball and not leaving the couch, but instead I focused on being grateful for what I do have. It was a conscious (and somewhat challenging) decision to change my perspective, but I’m so glad that I did. Have a great weekend.

alcohol placecards

 {Layering necklaces from my dad – the top was a gift he gave to my mom on their wedding day}

candlesticks

{I love these geode candlesticks that I purchased at SummerHouse in Mill Valley}

    Valentine’s day is not as big in Germany as it is over where you are; but I guess little hearts on my nails still couldn’t hurt :-)

    I’m sorry, Emily! I’m sure things will work out eventually- I’m a firm believer that a positive attitude will turn out much better for you in the end, rather than focusing on the negative aspects. Have a good and relaxing weekend!

    Love the place cards + gift idea – will have to use that sometime. Cute hearts, although I imagine that’s harder than it looks to “nail”! =)

    I wish I had the steady hands to draw on my nails! At most I could maybe get some designs on my left hand but I’d never be able to do more than a few squiggles on my right!

    Don’t feel discouraged, Emily! You’ve done wonderful work with your blog. There are always going to be ups and downs, but as long as you stay passionate about what you do those downs don’t mean anything! ;) Keep up the great work!

    (Btw, I’m from Novato! So whenever you mention places from the North Bay like Sol Food, I get so excited to see it featured on your blog :) )

    Lesson learning weeks are not fun sometimes :( But I love your conscious shift in perspective. And to be honest, it’s nice to hear about that side of life from some bloggers. Other blogs everything seems sunshine and rainbows and it’s hard to relate! Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you for sharing a side of yourself that’s not often seen from bloggers. It’s not all sunny days and sparkles, and it’s nice to be able to relate. Keep your head up :)

    Head up buttercup! We also had issues being self employed getting a home loan. But in the end it worked out by putting a larger down payment. I am sure it will all work itself out perfectly :-)

    I like the bottle placecards, but if it was for my friends, they’d all be Jameson, and they’d all complain about the bottles being small.
