Faulty Behavior

October 20th, 2011

We all have faults – those inherent flaws in our personalities that make us act unfavorably at times. I’d never classify myself as the patient type, but lately I’ve found myself even more irritable than usual. I’ve been avoiding movie theaters due to the loud breathers/talkers/seat kickers that inevitably sit beside me, I find myself irrationally annoyed when drivers park their cars too close to mine, and recently I ditched an interior design project because it was taking longer than expected.

I’m not justifying my behavior (especially given my own history of bad parking jobs), but sometimes it’s good to simply be aware of your (not so admirable) habits, so that you can make a change. I have plenty of faults, but my impatience certainly tops the list. What’s your biggest fault?

Great post! Lately I have been feeling the same way… Irritable and unable to understand some people (make that most people). Working on the same thing, but it is good to be working, growing. Good luck! You are not alone.

I’m terribly irascible- my fuse lately is shorter than ever. Happy one minute, angry the next. Finding a balance to me is all about routine, which I’ve been lacking. Getting into the swing of things, mixed with yoga, can easily have an impact.

I adore that picture of you, it’s so cute! I’d say my biggest flaw is a kind of strange one, one that I get from my mom: I often expect people to think and behave like I would. Not that I always think I’m right (that’s DEFINITELY not it, haha!) but it’s as though my behavior, or the way I react to things, is what I think everyone would do if it were them. I frequently have to remind myself that people will always do things very differently than I do.

I’m super irritable and impatient. Today I called my boyfriend and started yelling at him about how people on the road are riding my a$$ and he says, “Baby, I’M not the one riding your a$$,” as if to remind me that I was yelling at him because of other people. Reality check much?
