The office attire at Cupcakes and Cashmere is exactly what you might expect from a creative media company based in Los Angeles—polished, but flexible, which means no excessively cropped tops or skin-tight dresses, but also that blue jeans and jumpsuits don't need to be reserved for "casual Fridays" or weekends.

Still, I often find myself reaching for pieces you'd find in a more conservative office, like crisp skirts, tailored jackets, and trousers. Maybe it's because I feel like these pieces get an undeserved bad rap—for being basic and boring—but with special details, they're anything but. All of the pieces in this outfit are pretty 'corporate,' but their design elements make them special: the architectural, high-waistline of the paper bag trousers, the raised hem of the crisp, white top, and the unfinished tweed edges on the blazer. Combined, the outfit is polished and professional, without being stuffy. I kept the accessories traditional with black pumps and a structured neutral bag, but the eye charm adds just a wink of personality.
