Pleated metallic skirts are having quite a moment right now and it's easy to see why—they're elongating, have such a fun and flirty shape to them, and can work as easily for dinner out as they can for a party. When I was buying this one online, I noticed that there were about fifty different options available, each of which was styled with an oversized sweater and loafer or bootie. When I tried on the same look at home, I realized that I would have to be around six feet tall to pull it off—I looked more like a mid-century school teacher than someone embracing a current trend. I found a happy medium with a simple structured crop top and black pumps, which elevated the look of the skirt, without making it unapproachable, for a dinner date in Hollywood.
