A white button down is a staple that almost everyone has in their closet. To keep mine from feeling like it belongs under a suit jacket, I like to dress it up with a few simple accessories. Here are the five ways I've been styling mine as well as some other inspirational ideas below.

Brooch - This is the great way to use vintage or DIY brooches. I wear my shirt buttoned all the way up and tucked into my favorite skinny jeans.

Statement Necklace - I often wear a statement necklace to meetings, usually with a slim fitting, high-waisted pencil skirt. I like that the touch of color is partially hidden under the collar, as not to be too distracting.

Ribbon - When I wear a ribbon, I'll pair it with something a little bit tough like a cropped leather jacket, boyfriend jeans and a sexy sandal so the look doesn't veer towards Colonel Sanders.

Silk Scarf -  Adding a silk scarf quickly dresses up a simple look.

Bandana - This is my favorite accessory to wear with a button down. With shorts and sandals, a tailored shirt can be dressed down enough to wear when running errands.
