For the first time since starting Cupcakes and Cashmere back in 2008, I took a vacation. Like a real, legitimate break. I've gone on plenty of trips, but the amount of planning and preparation for posts beforehand (in addition to creating content while away) can be so intense that it almost balances out in the end. But over the holidays, I shut off and found that time to be completely rejuvenating. We visited family, went on hikes, explored new parts of L.A. (most of which revolved around food, obviously), stayed in bed to read and spent time with friends. I feel fortunate that I love my job, but a refresh every now and again is really important.
