FAQ
I’m always humbled by people’s interest in my blog so I compiled a list of answers to the most frequently asked questions.
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Nikon d300s. I have a few different lenses, including this telephoto lens, this prime lens and this wide angle lens.
Who takes the pictures of you?
My boyfriend.
May I use your photographs on my site?
Of course! Please just make sure to link back to my blog.
What blogging platform and server do you use?
I use Wordpress and Rackspace.
Can we exchange links?
While I’d love to exchange links with everyone, my blogroll is reserved for sites that I visit on a regular basis.
What do you do for a living?
I work full-time on my blog, which includes several partnerships, design collaborations and web consulting. Feel free to contact me should you be interested in working together.
I want to start a blog. Any tips?
Write often. Provide relevant, compelling content and high quality photographs. Make sure your site is clean and easy to read. Find other blogs that you admire and take note of what it is you like about their sites. The most important piece of advice is to write about things that bring you joy and that you’re truly passionate about, so you won’t burn out or run out of ideas.
Where did you get the piece of clothing you’re wearing in your outfit post?
I provide all of the information about the things that I wear under the first photograph of each outfit post.
What’s your favorite dessert?
Chocolate lava cake. Coconut Jelly Belly’s. White chocolate chip cookies. Coffee ice cream. Black licorice.
What do you like most about Los Angeles?
It took me a while to get used to L.A. (I’m originally from just outside of San Francisco), but now I really love its cultural diversity, excellent food, beautiful beaches and of course, the shopping. You can read about my favorite places to eat and shop here and here.
How do you stay in shape?
I think everything in moderation is what keeps me happiest and healthiest. I don’t deprive myself of anything, but when I indulge in something heavy, I try and go for a long walk or add some extra vegetables to my next meal. I also lift weights a few times a week and go for runs when I have enough musical inspiration loaded on my iPod.
How did you build a following on your blog?
There’s no exact formula for garnering an audience, but I write frequently, provide original content and truly love everything that I include on my blog.
What are some of your biggest indulgences?
Frequent naps on the weekend, trips to Palm Springs, Urth coffee, organic produce, manicures with girlfriends and brunch by the beach.
Any special talents?
I can touch my tongue to my nose. I’m eerily good at remembering previous roles of actors. I apply nail polish like a pro (but prefer to have it done).
What did you study in college?
I went to Scripps College and studied sociology and media studies.
What do you do to de-stress?
I watch cooking shows (I have a rather obvious obsession with Ina Garten), I take ridiculously hot bubble baths and listen to sad, soft music (Ray LaMontagne, Bon Iver and Joe Purdy).
Did I just see you on “The Hills” season 1?
Yes, you probably did. I had a job in sales at Teen Vogue and was frequently filmed when the camera crews were in the office.
