Falling for Autumn: Part 3
For the third installment of my favorite picks for fall (click here for parts 1 and 2), I chose classic items with unexpected details. I’ve been wearing sparkly nail polish for years (namely here) and carrying structured bags since college (here), but I love the slightly androgynous feel of preppy oxfords and edgy leather shorts. Plus, since it’s officially September, I don’t feel as bad for not embracing the last days of summer and looking forward to the approaching season.

I adore sparkly shoes (I’ve got a pair of red ballet slippers that Dorothy would LOVE) but no sparkly oxfords so I’m POSITIVE that those sparkly Marc Jacobs would fill the void in my closet just beautifully

I love #5 and the sparkly nail polish.
I love a classic handbag, fun sparkles on my fingers and the leather shorts would be a great transition piece into fall. As far as the oxfords; they are adorable and of course look fabulous as shown throughout J Crew catalogs. However, I just can’t seem to embrace the idea of wearing them. I think I’ll stick to sky high stilettos and booties

Hooray for September! I bought a pair of adorable suede oxfords by Boutique 9 from gilt early this summer, but I’ve barely had the chance to wear them–it’s been way too hot! I can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I can pull my oxfords out of the closet.

Great picks! I’m loving all the structured, classic pieces for fall and lots of leather! I don’t know if I can pull off the leather shorts just yet, but I certainly admire anyone who can. As for sparkly nails … I can’t wait to snap up some new polish at Sephora (Sephora by OPI is by far my favorite). I had a bottle of gold nail polish once, and it’s been my favorite color to date.

Great picks, Em, but those MJ oxfords have my heart literally beating faster! Absolutely adorable. Please get them so I can tap my toes vicariously through you, since my feet tend to grow while pregnant {and my wallet, unfortunately, does not}, and therefore a frivolous purchase like this is not in my foreseeable future.
The nail polish is a must for fall and I love the shorts. I think I am going to have to get a classic carrall…I am going to start lugggin my laptop from work to home reguarily

Love that you have picked some gorgeous (expensive) things like the Marc Jacobs brogues along with quality, but more affordable things like the Topshop bag. Thought both Topshop shorts looked too much like lederhosen though. OK if you’re Bavarian.

I was excited to read what some of your fashion picks were for fall- and I must say I couldn’t agree more…however, it will be interesting to see if I can pull these off! I love fashion, but when it comes down to me actually trying to pull off some of these trends, I try to execute it in a very subtle way. I am a full time student, so I love wearing oxfords to class with shorts and a simple cardigan. But instead of the plain brown oxfords, I LOVE the other options you have given us! These small changes can help glam up any outfit- and its great for chickens like me who are just getting used to the idea of leather shorts…we’ll see!
