DIY: Embellished Sunglasses

February 27th, 2013

yellow floral sunglasses

I’ve been into embellished sunglasses since this past July, but the only pairs that I coveted were way too expensive for such a trendy accessory. Instead of making the splurge or settling for cheap ones I didn’t love, I decided to make my own pair using sunglasses from Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. I chose three classic shapes (cat-eye, aviators, and oversized round glasses) and used a glue gun to adhere a variety of decorative pieces. Each pair cost less than $20 to make and they’ll be a fun departure from all of my other shades for spring.

P.S. If you’re looking for a way to store your sunglasses, here’s a simple solution that you can make yourself.

before and after sunglasses
sunglass tools
flowers
crystals
pearls
cat eye + aviators
embellished sunglasses

I love the flower DIY. Not sure about embellished sunglasses but I’d definitely wear those ones :)

:) I love creativity so an A+ for effort! Unfortunately it seems I’m in the minority on this one based on other comments. The cat eye glasses are kinda cute, but I would be really surprised to see if you ever rock these yellow ones in future posts or wear them day to day. I think they would cute for a little diva, not a grown woman. :)

Here’s what I’m lovin’ right now!

I agree with Candice. Perhaps the blinged out cat eyes are wearable, but I doubt she will ever wear the yellow flower ones. Maybe to a costume party?

What a great idea, I wish I could be this crafty but I think I’d end up with glue all over myself rather than on the sunglasses lol. My favorites are the Pearl Aviators, simple yet elegant…

I don’t typically feel the need to comment, but honestly, I don’t understand why people are just intentionally rude. Did it make you feel good, to write something nasty? I am so sick of people being mean, for the sake of being mean! It’s everywhere these days. Emily is putting herself out there, being creative and is successful! How many can say the same? Ugh, it really is just disheartening.

  • Farrah

    LOL hahahah nooooooo, Cuppy, nooooooooo!!!!!

  • Tempestt

These are all such a cute and original way to play up the spring sunglasses trend :) I definitely don’t think it’s just for young girls! There’s alot of stuff us California girls can get away with and you pull these off so wonderfully! Thanks for the inspiration, I’m currently searching for those ombre florals!

love DIYs i will definately try this one out.

For someone who spends $300 on a basic shirt, it seems far-fetched that you would wear these gaudy creations in your day-to-day life.

No sense of fun. Too bad

Great take on making eyewear more accessible, it definitely needs to become more assessable.
